On my second and final night, the individual working maintenance overheard a private conversation I was having on my phone as I was setting up my computer to get some work done... He overhead me say a cuss word. The guy accused me of not belonging, I provided my room number to him... He proceeded to have my room access revoked.
The guy said "you can't say cuss words, women and children could hear you." I responded by saying "Amen," and this individual lost rationality at that.
I realized it triggered him, so I apologized... And then he proceeded to make me wait over an hour before he let me get my belongings from my room and leave.
When trying to discuss the issue with the manager this morning, she said "you did some stuff, you won't be staying here again." There was virtually no one around when I had my phone call in the lobby. I was entirety sober, was not disruptive, and frankly this has been handled egregiously.
All in all I lost 3 hours of my evening, which was the night before a 6am flight. I still have not been refunded, and the on-site management team has simply elected to exclusively back their maintenence guy without a holistic review of the situation.
As of now I have yet to receive a refund, and the assistant manager informed me she will not allow me to discuss with anyone higher than her.
For the sake of others who stay in the future, I hope Holiday Inn reviews this and takes measures to ensure others are not subjected to this.
