This is a well located hotel, that is older but well maintained. What would have been an enjoyable stay was negatively impacted by two service issues, one minor, and one major, but I believe both symptoms of a poor service culture that are bound to impact many guest.
1. We arrived about 2 hours before check in time adn inquired if they could store our bags so we could take a walk. They pointed by the bell person (10 stories below). After starting for the elevator I inquired if they had our room available and they said yes. Why didn't they just check on that before they sent me away?
2. More importantly, they did not make up our room after the first night. When I complained to the front desk, they did apologize and said it was a mistake, but did not offer any sort of gesture like a breakfast voucher or anything for the inconvenience, other than offering to send towels. After 2 hours and before bed, I had to call again to get towels for the morning. Waited another 30 minutes for them to show. up. Emailed the manager that night and asked for a response or a call. Never did hear from the manager.
Overall, the staff seemed lifeless and joyless and certainly did not seem to that they cared to be there.
If you want a place to lay your head and that's it, by all means stay, but if you would like a service environment equal to the room price, you could probably do better.
