We loved our stay at the Perla. The location couldn't be better for staying in La Paz. It is in walking distance to a lot of restaurants and all the sight seeing, snorkeling, tours etc. The place is kept immaculate and the staff was very helpful. Keep in mind that you are not staying at a American style hotel like the Hyatt. This is an old hotel in La Paz. It has it's quirks and you are definitely staying in Mexico, not everyone will speak English this is not a American Resort, which we loved. The rooms were more than adequate with a nice air conditioner, clean bathroom and a nice hot shower.
There is a nice patio on top and one out front to have your coffee and watch the sunset.
The Hotel gives you a Continental lunch, which is coffee , orange juice and toast and jelly. We added scramble eggs to make for a pretty cheap breakfast. We ate breakfast there most days but only ate dinner there once. It was good, but you'll want to mix up eating at one of the many places on or just off of the Malecon.
Also remember that this is right on the Malecon, which means it can get noisy. We only had real noise Friday night when it seemed like every body comes out to party. The noise is not unique to this hotel as any hotel on the Malecon will be noisy. Like I said only Friday was bad, but you will want to bring earplugs in case. My wife had earplugs and she slept through it all just fine.
Cons:
Tepid Hot tub. Which probably could be fixed by just having them turned on earlier.
