Hotel needs TLC
The staff and food was good. The hotel definitely needs some attention to. Very run-down. Fixtures rusted and don'twork well.. towels, bedding, and cushions are very worn.....concrete walls and floors need repair.

Being just out of the main area in a preserved nature reserve is exactly what I wanted. The hotel is designed to fit into this environment not take over it and the lay out of the space well thought out. I just found it strange the amenities of a “kitchen” was on paper only. Only one “kitchen” had a refrigerator and none of them had any utensils , plates, bowls, cooking equipment, etc. I saw multiple rooms to know this is fact. Our balcony had no furniture so all I could do was stand went I went outside for the beautiful view and to listen to the morning birds. I will go back but just with a better understanding of what to expect. Carrying a chair to the beach is no big deal especially when it’s right there and such an amazing beach with perfect sunsets and fine soft sand.

8/10 Very Good

We read the reviews thoroughly before deciding on El Cuyo and Lunarena. We knew the power goes off, bad internet, etc. There were things we loved about Lunarena and things which could be much better, which numerous other reviewers have mentioned, so it appears the management doesn't care to improve. Loved the quiet, the breakfast is great, the location is wonderful but the best part is the staff. They are amazing and they made our stay of 10 days very enjoyable. Our unit could definitely use some attention, the bathroom faucet is almost falling off and there was some staining in various places. However, that's not a big deal. The two things we think would make a big difference is darker curtains, as people are on vacation and would like to not wake up so early. The other thing is the kitchen. With what is available in the kitchen it is impossible to do any cooking, as it is very poorly equipped. As the staff is so accomodating, we continually asked for things and they had them available and gave them to us to use. However, I feel if you advertise that you have a kitchen, there should be considerably more than what there is. Despite those two things, we enjoyed our stay, it's a great place to stay in a wonderful little town.

Not bad, not great
It’s a nice looking hotel. Air conditioning worked well. The included breakfast was decent. It’s very close to the beach. They offer beach chairs. The service was quite friendly. It’s nice and quiet as it’s about a 10 minute walk to town. The pool is very small. Our room and linens weren’t very clean. Rooms 1 and 2 have a sliding door that look directly into the common area/restaurant. The lights flicker constantly and sometimes just turn completely. I don’t think it quite matches what they charge.

I liked the quite and it is a charming place. I did not know that it does not have air conditioning, although the weather was great and we did not need it at all, in a different time of year it may be nice to have.

Staff was super super helpful!! Always attentive and very nice to assure that everything was as expected. It’s a. 15 min walk to restaurants and about 25 to town itself but only a 3 min walk to the beach that was super clean and pretty and with very few people, loved it

Great but not excellent
Overall the hotel is pretty cute, and located ideally to enjoy El Cuyo (beach and village) ... The service in the restaurant and quality of the food for dinner was below par though... Breakfast was small, albeit delicious... They push you to consume their on-top options, I guess... They're trying and some of previous comments were taken into consideration although fridge is still noisy and you have to unplug it if you want quiet sleep... Drapes can also be improved to provide more sleeping comfort as sun rises at 6am :)

We loved our stay. Staff very friendly. Design and tranquility was off the charts. Location is phenomenal. 3 minute walk to beach . We basically had it to ourselves. Kite school on premise looked really fun. Rope bed and balcony overlooking jungle.

Great spot in El Cuyo
This was a great find in El Cuyo. The hotel is a bit outside the town area, but a quick drive or walk. The hotel itself was great, clean, and comfortable. The water was hot, and air conditioning was available in the room from 8pm to 8am. Nikita was a fantastic host, the recommendations for dinner were excellent.

This property is super well thought out! The detail in making it cute is evident. We had a hanging bed. Although a few experience I would not like it every night or for a long stay. The room was beautiful though and the terrace great. The common areas downstairs is beautiful and the food was super good. Bravo to the two lady chefs. The staff in general was super kind. The hotel is so close to the beach, this is a big plus. Mosquitoes are a minus. El Cuyo is a charming little town at the brink of being a good tourist spot. We enjoyed our visit

NO WATER! NO REFUND! On the first day & night of my stay the hotel had no water at all, not a single drop. Not even to flush the toilet. I'd been to the beach so I needed a shower to sleep comfortably which of course I couldn’t take. If you add this to the fact that the hotel has NO air conditioning, it turned out to be a nightmare. So the next morning I decided to move somewhere else and asked the hotel to refund me for the remaining nights of my stay which they denied, blaming the Municipality for the water shortage. I could literally hear people showering in the hotel next door. I moved to much nicer CASA CIELO which of course had no water problems at all. I'd recommend you consider Casa Cielo instead. Be careful, staff was unresponsive and management simply ignored me. They even texted me to tell me to come back for my remaining nights in order "not to lose them". They clearly prefer to endure bad reviews than to refund for unused nights after providing a guest with a terrible service.
