I arrived at the hotel only to find that there was no one there to greet me. I had messaged the property ahead of time to let them know my arrival time (I have proof). I tried calling them several times, but no one answered. I even yelled outside the building, hoping that someone inside would hear me, but no one came.
After waiting for a while, I had to give up and leave with the taxi driver who had brought me there. He was getting impatient, and I didn't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere.
I called Expedia, and they tried calling the hotel, with not luck. The representative told me that they would cancel my reservation and issue me a refund, but they couldn't do anything to help me find another hotel.
I was transferred to another representative, who finally managed to get in touch with the hotel. The woman who answered the phone said that she was on her way back to the property, but I had already returned to the city center, which was far away and expensive to get to by taxi. I also didn't know how long it would take her to return, since she told Expedia that I hadn't given her my arrival time.
During the course of these conversations, I was disconnected from the Expedia. In the end, I found refuge in another hotel, but my troubles didn't end there. I was charged for a night I never spent in that forsaken place and for a reservation I had previously canceled in good faith. It was more than just a bad experience; it was a deeply disheartening.
