The view and location in the village are the best part of the room we staying in. Meiringen is very walkable, even to the gorge and falls.
The breakfast was extraordinary. They had anything you'd ever want for breakfast, and, an espresso machine that actually did a pretty good job.
There was no heat or AC, they said it was central. Probably not turned on though due to the season. Ok, BUT not when it’s 85°F/30°C inside the room. Very nice outside though. No matter, we thought we’d open the windows. Except then flies and gnats came flying in because of no screens.
There were 4 receptacles, but, with only 4 operable plugs. Sounds ok until you realize the available outlets are by the desk (perfect!), in back of the bed, in back of a couch, and next to the door at switch height all with stuff plugged into them. That left only one functional outlet out of each receptacle at each location. So…we couldn’t plug in chargers, laptop, and the fan they gave us, practically. Plus the fan wouldn’t do any good behind the couch, behind the bed, or next to the entrance hanging upside down.
Refrigerator didn’t work well. It essentially put out an excessive amount of heat just to cool items barely below room temperature.
Also, apparently the hotel wanted a photo op of the hotel with all the lights on, which adds more heat to the room, or, more flies and gnats if you keep the windows open with the lights on.
Our advice is to focus on the hotel condition, not the photo op.
