Location - great, everything else - not good.
The room we stayed in (401) was not in good shape. Stains on the carpet and curtains (blood, likely from people killing the many mosquitos that seemed to appear magically) as well as a cracked toilet seat did not give a good first impression. The bed really needs replacement as both sides of the bed had heavy slants and it was a challenge to not fall out of bed. Wallpaper was peeling and cracked walls also were not appealing. However, the sheets were clean and the bathroom was decent, as European hotels go. The location was excellent, but that is the only redeeming quality of this very dated hotel.

Hotel was right in the center of town with restaurants and bars all around. Very close from boat station and landmarks . Pretty clean. Breakfast is very good. However, there is line for check- in and it’s at the hotel in front of it. Plumbing in the bathroom is not the best. Bathroom window had a huge crack open and could not be closed. They just left it like that it appears.

Better than expected
Despite some dodgy reviews we were pleasantly surprised by our stay here. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the mattress was new and the bathroom was clean with lots of hot water. The only thing to note is that reception is in the hotel opposite. This was not made clear for us. Breakfast is also in the hotel opposite which was basic not enough to keep us going.

Considering you’re paying for convenience, something else will get compromised right? Space. The room is puny. Barely comfortable for “get in and out” kind of traveler. Shower is old school and can leak out so, I would be careful or use towels to alleviate. Venice is not necessarily the cleanest town so I would keep your standards tamed.

Central location & great1st experience
Chose Hotel Diana for its central location to San Marco Basilica, St Marco square, Doges and ability to travel everywhere. The tours to the above places and walks with guides were excellent (booked whilst n Venice), all were excellent. The room was what’s needed, though the bathroom could do with an upgrade, a lights needed, the shower head needs to spray feature land there were some smells from bath drainage but think that’s standards for Venice, and manageable by shutting the bathroom door. Breakfast included was standard continental from 8am so you can start the days itinerary early. Receptionists were generally helpful. I would stay again for the central location, or look around there’s lots of hotels. There’s lots of places locally to eat and people friendly so didn’t try the hotel food there was a menu in the reception area. Must visit Murano next time and do a glassmaking workshop and venture more widely. Overall a great first expedience of Venice.

We had to keep all windows open overnight to help getting rid of the smell of mold in the room, letting noise from the restaurant in until midnight. The wallpaper looked like installed by my 5 year old and it was missing in some portions of the wall. The toilet did not have enough water pressure and quantity to flush away even the toilet paper in it. They deserve a 10 for the effort but the quality is not really there, which can be common in Venice, but the thing is that this should be advertised as a 2 star hotel, not 3.

Location was good and walkable to dining options, sights etc. Bathroom was incredibly small, I am tall but thin, no one of a larger size would be able to go to the toilet or shower in the bathroom. Had to leave the bathroom door open in order to use it as it was so small, lucky I was alone! Walls are paper thin, and I was woken up late at night by the next room talking loudly on the phone, which subsequently stopped when I banged on the wall. Noise from the street also kept me awake. Overall shabby room too much unnecessary furniture for such a small room. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and wallpaper peeling in many places. It was cheap for Venice so what do you expect. Thank goodness I was only there one night. Didn’t even bother with breakfast as the reports were not great.

Location is excellent with the hotel being very close to all the attractions in San Marco. Check-in/out is managed by staff at the other hotel across the street. Wouldn’t have known that if receptionist at the other hotel didn’t tell us as there was only a posted sign on the door saying to call the local phone number for emergencies/questions, but as tourist coming from abroad is I also didn’t have any way to call any local number. There was no 24hr reception at the time we checked out & facility seemed older than I expected. But otherwise adequate accommodation if you’re not going to spend a lot of time in the hotel room & can’t beat the closeness to all the major attractions.

Fantastic location. Hotel was fab for getting around everywhere. Don’t be out of by previous bad reviews. Come here with no expectations. The rooms are small but why do you need a large room, the breakfast is a bit of something to put you on until you wan to eat something, the rooms were cleaned daily. Fresh towels and sheets. Easy to find the hotel as you take the water taxi from the airport, get off san marco, head to the square then through an ally way and check in at panda. Couldn’t be easier to find. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone
