8/10 Very Good

It was not as grimey or disgusting as I expected it to be. Bed was very comfy. Great location right between the Shawangunks and thr Catskills. Does look abandoned on the outside. Probably the oddest hotel I have been to. This place has a lot of potential, just needs some sprucing up.

OK to sleep, but overpriced
Not worth the price, in my opinion. This was my first stay here, so I can’t speak to any changes or improvements. The hotel is old and the rooms are in OK-to-poor shape. It’s evident that some renovations have been done, but they don’t really eliminate the “way past its prime” vibe of the hotel.

10/10 Exceptional

Henry at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and apologized for nothing as all is normal to the staff. But yes, everything is tired looking in terms of decorating and very outdated but it is all passable and when leaves are turning, nothing wrong at half the price and the only place below $400 that has rooms available. Their problem is it's virtue. Prospective guests need to rearrange their expectations. Yes, the whole place is an odd combination of huge impressive first floor common areas, and a big outdoor pool which is drained and an eyesore. (although the indoor pool in the basement is open 24/7). The reviews were so poor, I was expecting to walk in and tiptoe over the debris. But it is such an oddity, an 8 story behemoth in the middle of nowhere, you will be taking pictures and laughing with your family and friends at the next visit. You can tell them there is one elevator button for the left car for those on odd floors and the same button that goes to the even floors on the right car. It is a white elephant, a non-sequitur, an anachronism where they think it is perfectly normal to make a broken down hotel into what they may think is an over the top AirBnB. Go in with the right attitude and It should be on everyone's list who wants a cheap life-long memory that will bring a smile to your face even when you are happily leaving.

2/10 Poor

Disgusting place, should be closed down. My room wasn't vacuumed before I came, no one came to clean to while I was there either. The shower barely worked, the elevators barely work, the stairwells are gross, room was gross, pool area is closed and trashed, it smells gross in the lobby, the lobby furniture is disgusting, absolutely nothing redeemable about this place. It was probably nice once is all I can say. I am going to contact my card company, because it was pretty unacceptable conditions and the fact that they are charging nearly $200 a night is INSANE and a scam. Should be condemned.

Horrible hotel
We went to this hotel because it was close to the college where we were visiting our daughter. It was really outdated, smelled old and was really visibly dirty. We won’t be back. This hotel and spa should be torn down. Weeds growing in The parking lot, the building has exposed paint cracked and chips, broken entrance to the hotel.

I did not even stay in the hotel, we pulled in and it was absolutely disgusting. The front doors would not even open! It was filthy. Disgusting we had to find another place to stay and they would not refund my money! I am so disappointed! Will never ever ever use hotels.com again

The property is old and antiquated - not in a cool vintage way - and it’s long due for an update. The room was unkept - maintenance and cleanliness wise. Lamps not working, lamp shades worn out/broken, damaged closet door poorly fixed, and a grimy sticky spot by the coffee machine - clearly not cleaned in a long time. Do not recommend.

8/10 Very Good

Reading some reviews, we were hesitant to book. Property is large and old. Lobby is huge. We checked in 10:30pm and was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. There was a party going on in banquet hall, so it was quiet lively, festive. Lobby is huge, with big chandeliers. Room was clean, rug was older but clean. Desk was wobbly but we did not need to use it. We only stayed one night, but it met our need. We attended Meadowlark festival in Stone Ridge, Easy to find at night. Had clean comfortable bed and working shower. .Keurig in room, but did not see coffee or cups. Had refrigerator. No restaurant on site, not a problem , went to Saunderkill Farm for breakfast on Route 209. I would stay here again.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting I checked in and left in a matter of 1 hour because it looked like a crime scene when I walked in to my room. There is also a door that is connected to another room and that is sus af. I’ve seen enough movies to know I don’t wanna be killed. Never ever coming back here. Also smells like cat piss.

We should receive a refund. This hotel couldn’t possibly pass an inspection and I wonder about the safety of the elevators as well. The description of the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa is extremely deceptive. It was absolutely run down and filthy. Towels were all over the hallway when we arrived and were there when we checked out. Ceiling tiles were falling. The lobby had food on the floor from children and a turned over stroller that seemed to be ok sitting there. The garbage bin outside the building was overflowing with crap. I took pictures if you would like them. The rugs are all stained. Where is the building inspector? The check in staff were all very nice- that’s about it. Requesting a full refund! I have several pics of the filth. We’re disgusted to say the least.

Lobby and outskirts of hotel were filthy. Indoor pool was disgusting. The hotel hasn’t been kept up and it’s falling apart. Hairdryer in room didn’t work and we were going to a wedding so hairstyle was important. Outdoor pool in disrepair. Elevator maintenance questionable.

Hudson Valley Stay
This was a strange experience. My key didn’t work and the elevators are very very old. There were dirty plates, cups, dishes with old food and coffee everywhere in the hallways. Dirty towels strewn about. There was hair in the bathtub and only shampoo and two lotions provided. The air conditioner was not on and unable to be adjusted. She floors were dirty and the whole place had a strange odor. I would never stay here again.

This place needs to be condemned immediately. It's structure is falling apart. It's delapitated. The furniture is old. The decorations are worn and extremely dated. All charm is lost on the wear and tear of everything. Smelled like mold and water damage when you enter. This place needs to be shut down. I did not see cockroaches but it wouldn't surprise me if there were heavy pest problems as well, though this is just speculation. My assumption is always, how somebody does one thing, is how they do everything! And if this place is to judge, everything is a problem. The window in our room, was barely held together with ad hoc wood trimmings. This place needs to be sold and leveled.

8/10 Very Good

We found it unique and close to most of the activities we were interested in. The breakfast was nice and the seating outside was very accommodating with a nice view. We did use the hiking trail in the property and our dog enjoyed the trail as well. The room we had was next to the entrance so it was slightly noisy, but we had the air on in the evening so it wasn’t an issue. The not so great part was the check in because the person that checked us in was extremely rude. We also had no Netflix and after calling the same person at reception , we were told the property was in some type of transition and Netflix and other TV capabilities were not available. My daughter was also told that SOME people fin it hard to operate a remote control. We were also told at. Our 5 pm checkin our 9 lb dog was an additional 75.00 ( And if we didn’t like it , we could leave) . being a service dog we were surprised and did not see mention of that on the property website other than the hotel was dog friendly. We did basically enjoy the one night stay , the owner was hospitable and made up for the nasty woman that checked us in . The person on evening shift at the desk was nice as well. It’s hard getting past the initial condescending attitude especially since the check in process sets the tone first thing however we wouldn’t allow an obviously troubled person to ruin our stay. Enjoy the natural beauty.
