This is a beautiful old hotel in the heart of Santiago de Cuba. The hotel is in excellent condition and is well maintained. The service from hotel staff was excellent as well. There was a significant downside. Being in the heart of the city, it was very noisy and the walls and windows do little to keep out the noise when it's time to sleep. Cubans seem to start early and party until quite late. Also, being right next to the cathedral, the bell chimes for each hour and half hour. Sometimes, it felt like those bells were in our room. A tip for other travellers: ask for a room facing Parque Cespedes, and not facing La Case de la Trova. Also, bring earplugs.
