Small beach, great service, fantastic rooms!
Staff and service was amazing. Food at the specialty restaurants (Los Arcos and Capri) was mediocre, but the buffet had lots of good choices—though pretty much the same breakfast spread 3 days in a row. We didn’t realize we had booked a premium room and VERY glad the friends we were traveling with decided against upgrading to match. No discernible perks to having premium status besides room service being included. The premium lounge was not a “lunch restaurant” at all as advertised, and a very sterile and awkward environment that I would have been very bummed to have paid more for. But rooms were great and spacious, and our bed was sooooo comfortable! The biggest disappointment was how small the stretch of beach was, and it oddly had no tidal change whatsoever.

Pésima experiencia
A la llegada el hotel no contaba con energía eléctrica por lo que varias áreas no contaban con aire acondicionado, no había hielo y nada que dependiera de energía. Así fue por dos días en periódos de 5 horas cada día. Si bien no depende totalmente del hotel éste debe contar con generadores que no mermen sus servicios. Recibimos la habitación sucia (con basura de condones y cabellos largos en el lavabo-yo soy calvo-) y durante la estancia encontramos cucarachas. El servicio del personal fue malo. En uno de los restaurantes tomaron mal la orden y lejos de disculparse, hicieron caras y malos comentarios. La comida es mala y no hay variedad de snacks. Hicimos nuestros comentarios a la gerencia y aunque nos ofrecieron un upgrade, ya no había mucho que pudieran hacer ya que estábamos hospedado en la categoría más alta. Nos ofrecieron un tour gratuito y nos no comentaron que de cancelar habría penalización, cuando aclaramos que nos nos habían informado, solo hicieron caras y no ofrecieron una disculpa. Solo la actitud del gerente Mauricio es conciliatoria, pero realmente no ofreció una compensación acorde.

I had a short stay. This property had everything you'd expect from an all inclusive. Service was always friendly. Food was good. It was a little harder/more expensive to get to from airport than I expected. Fantastic views. Pretty small/minor maintenance needs to be done to things.

I arrived at the resort at 10:30am and was told I had to pay $400mx per person if I wanted to access the facility before noon. Around 11:00am another couple was able to check in and received access to the facility. The service lacks and the facility is old and needs updates. At the moment of receiving the room we noticed the mini bar was not cleaned or stocked. I had to call reception to have it restocked as they never cleaned it. Our entry key was not working at the time and had to wait about an hour for it to be fixed.. The light of the bathroom would go off and one of the lamps in the room was never fixed. Overall the quality is below average in all aspects.

What I liked about the property was the pools and how close we were to the beach, also the rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The things that I did not like was the food, it was very americanized it had no flavor and I felt like it was catered for a white person’s palate. I did not feel like it was authentic mexican food the salsa tasted like tomato sauce and the meat was not flavored.

The property was always extremely clean. The entertainment staff particularly did an amazing job of providing fun things to do like beach volleyball, and daily games. The food and drinks were good also. The bartenders were great and we never waited more than a couple minutes max for a drink. The location is a bit of a drive but completely worth it because you get to see the jungle scenery. There is a small town with a couple restaurants right beside the resort that we loved visiting because it was only a walk away and felt super safe. Los Pescardos was our personal favourite. Overall the barcelo has been our favourite resort so far, would definitely go back!
