Never again riu is a miss

Food was bland cold and tasteless. The room key needed to be changed daily stopped working. Attitude of some staff was really good but others were just rude and lazy unless you were a young women. Drinks are warm. Air conditioning in room was poor plus had mold in the vents . Now Have a chest infection. Music around the pool could not get away from . Plus they played 2 different types from bar and pool so mixed .

I’ve been to the Riu in Jamaica and this one in The Bahamas was a great disappointment. It’s not worth the money. All inclusive means you want to relax and be comfortable and feel welcomed and catered to. The beach never gets cleaned. I’m very meticulous when it comes to cleanliness and I’ve never been to an all inclusive that doesn't clean the beach. They do not serve you drinks on the beach or even ask you if you need anything. Customer service is awful. They are not friendly or helpful or even care if you are enjoying your stay. There were a few staff that had great customer service skills one named Katherine and another young man that handles the front. He was very helpful on telling us where to go eat off the resort. The buffet is not the best once it runs out that’s it. The food was cold. Another customer said she seen a roach at the buffet. Housekeeping did a good job I can say. But our room smelled awful! Room 631 smells like wet mildew all the time. I’m not saying it’s the worst but it’s the worst all inclusive I’ve been to. I’ve been to smaller ones not as popular as Riu and they were way better. Riu is a big name and I feel the resorts and especially customer service should be the same across the board. The grill outside had flies constantly flying on the food I couldn’t eat it. Bahamas is nice and beautiful but i’d rather just spend a day there in a cruise or something.

On the Travelocity site it boasts a five-star rating at best I would give it a three-star with the exception of a few staff members most employees were not approachable or friendly the rooms were musty smelling with presents of cockroaches food with subpar and there was an overall musty smell and the entire property what I did like was the shows at night and the pool

The property needs to be maintained better in the cabana area, the covers are filthy and have holes or do not work, you should have the towel area open up earlier. Also, you should not allow vendors into the area, it is very annoying while on vacation to have to keep saying no to them and them trying to get you to do water sports etc,

Staff was very rude. Would even argue with the people staying there and among each other. felt so unwelcoming. And the drinks and food they leave open and let the bugs go on them and even inside.

Here is what we liked and what we didn’t like: I suggest just taking a personal taxi. For the money it beats the shuttle. The shuttle is slow, makes many stops and even stopped for gas. What could have been a 30 min drive was like 90 min. The food was good at the buffet but the reservations at the onsite places were kinda of a pain Some service was good but some was just horrible. It felt like an inconvenience to ask for things. The property was good but looked like it has seen better days. The place next door is an eye sore and run down. But nothing RIU could do. The beach and water are amazing. This is what the trip is all about. You will not be disappointed. The amount of weed and the smell of weed on the beach was disappointing. It was everywhere and really made laying at the beach at times hit or miss. The downtown area was great. Convenient and prices were reasonable. The room was nice and clean except for the blood all over the curtains. They came and replaced them promptly. It did get warm at night but that could just be a personal preference and no fault of the hotel. All and all the Bahamas is great. This is a middle of the road RIU facility wise. We have been to Aruba, Mexico, and Costa Rica and like the grounds much better. The night shows were not as good as other resorts but still were decent. The music was insanely loud tho which really detracted from the show. On a scale of 10 I have it a 5-6!
