8/10 Very good

Nice hotel, staff were helpful and very nice. Location is a little inconvenient, if you aren’t driving you need to take a ferry of shuttle back and forth. Overall a good stay.

The cave onsens are wonderful and we loved our breakfast looking out at the rocky coast and crashing waves at breakfast. The hotel is a 1960s throw-back and well-maintained and very reasonably priced. Great hiking on Kumano Kodo nearby and sightseeing.

Is good for one night stay cause they won’t change their menus. I stayed four nights and have the same menus for four days and nights!

Huge hotel a 5 minute ferry ride from town. We stayed in a spacious Japanese room with fantastic ocean views. The onsen was amazing, in a cave right next to the ocean where you could watch waves crashing while bathing. Buffet breakfast and dinner were good.

If you’re there to use the onsen than it’s great but besides that …….. I left a night early.

Love the hotel urashima
Loved the hotel, it was very traditional, not a lot of foreigners, food was great, service was wonderful and onsens spectacular.

Refreshing awe-inspiring experience
Amazing stay - especially the cave onsen and the views on top of the mountains; the retro classical video games next to the cafeteria also bring back lots of memories

Lot of facilities was under renovation or repair…One of the reason I chose the hotel is the shuttle boat between the hotel and the pier near around. However, the boat was under maintenance during our stay.

Big hotel, have several onsen, cave onsen is special, breakfast and dinner need to improve, from station walk to ferry only few minutes and hotel have boat or shuttle send you to hotel.

I loved it!
Either the car or ferry were prompt in picking people up. The hotel is beautiful, and the food was delicious. I loved going to dinner in my slides and yukata. Service and amenities were top notch, the onsen was a once in a lifetime experience. The town itself is charming.

Relaxing stay
Big hotel with many rooms. Huge breakfast and dinner. The hotel standard was a bit old, but the main attraction were the different onsen. There's a good view from above the hotel, but most of it was under renovation. The same with the escalator.
Christian, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Great hotel in a cute fishing town. The decor is very dated but this added to the experience for us. We opted for a Japanese style room looking over the ocean. The room was big and the view was great. Evening buffet was fine. We didn’t try the breakfast option. Used both the boat and shuttle to get to and from the hotel and both worked well.

The cave hot springs and views!
This hotel was amazing. A sprawling property built into the side of a mountain. So many onsen. The cave onsen were spectacular. There were many restaurants, convenience store, shops and an arcade.
Chelan, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

They don’t tell you about the smell of sulphur.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel food offerings in the main restaurant were very varied and catered for a wide range of tastes and were well presented and served. The hotel wasn’t in the condition we expected however, we had to change rooms from the broken and dirty ones we were first allocated. The whole place has an air of needing much renovation. One corridor was covered in mould and was like a scene from a fairground ghost ride. The whole area stank of sulphur which was explainable but kept out of descriptions we had read.

Unique Japanese onsen
A very unique experience with the cave onsen. The hotel was once a glamorous resort but now is tired and run down. Dinner buffet offers a good variety of food. Room has a fantastic view look out to the bay and ocean. It seems to be a popular resort for the locals.
Yan Chi Lana, 1-night trip

For those who are looking to luxuriate in the onsens of the Kii península… This is a place not to be missed. The cave onsens, especially, were both gorgeous and healing… The other ones perhaps a bit rundown, but still quite a treat. The staff were great (and multi-lingual) and my room was squeaky clean. Highly recommend

Last year I tried their wonderful onsen that faces the sea. It was fantastic. When I returned to Japan, I made reservations at this hotel and upgraded to a room that had an ocean view. It was fantastic. The room included a half board which is breakfast and dinner. Staff are helpful. The room was very clean and quiet.
