A great stay, everything we needed with fantastic staff. Room was great, beds comfortable and best breakfast I've had in a hotel for years. Staff were warm and friendly, couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be back.

We booked at the last minute, having missed our last train home. The lounge area is bright and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. Very convenient for the railway station and the town centre.

Nice enough place, centrally located.

Hotel had some age to it, was nice enough, staff seemed freindly , helpful etc. Room was adequate just thought the overall cleanliness let it down a little. Some hairs in the bathroom and the window had not been cleaned (inside ) for some time but those are my only criticisms. Nice place and would stay again.

Vegan selection for breakfast was quite poor and having a room that overlooked the pub opposite (Jailor's Barrel) meant noise into the night but otherwise was comfortable and staff very friendly.

Hotel in prime position. A grand old building really nice downstairs . Helpful / friendly staff. Lovely restaurant and lots of choice for breakfast both continental and freshly cooked Lots of choice. Valentine’s delight of a hotel

Excellent Period property. As an older building we were unsure what to expect but it’s immaculate throughout. Staff were incredibly friendly and we were delighted to be checked in 3 hours prior to the arranged time. Couldn’t be more conveniently located a minute walk from the castle and the Main Street where all the shops, bars and restaurants are. They don’t have onsite parking but there is a very safe pay and display car park 3 minutes walk away which was only £14 for 24 hours. That’s much cheaper than any other city hotel I’ve ever been to. We will be back. We really enjoyed our stay and the city.

The hotel is in an ideal position for the shops and train station. We had a last minute booking as our train was cancelled and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is a little dated but its lovely and the rooms have lots of nice little touches in them, we had a family room and there was even little rubber ducks in the bath. We had an evening meal and I've got to say its the best meal I've had for a long time.

Staff are lovely and the building has some nice old touches. The bar area and restaurant are nice but the rooms although clean could do with some updating. I stayed ina standard room wich was functional and cleanly decorated but the bathroom was a little dated. I would stay again though.

Decent for short stay

A one night business trip. Last minute booking. Entrance and public areas looked really nice. Room was clean and bed comfy but very short, my feet hung off the end and I’m only 5’10. Also room was freezing despite radiator being on full- in fairness temps outside were in the minus and the windows didn’t look fully modern as they fitted (well) with the period of the property. Staff were friendly.
