Grounds are beautiful & well maintained.Resort is expansive, so prep for lots of walking! While grounds are very nice, some of the fixtures & furnishings could use updating, particularly in our room & common areas. The hallways in the buildings also need better illumination for safety. Our room in the Jalisco building on the top floor was adequate for 4 of us with 2 teens.Space was comfortable & AC worked well—I was even chilly at night! But, our friends in other rooms did say that theirs felt damp, so some inconsistency.Big for this resort is the mini-mall on the grounds, Plaza Mexicana for shops, & 24-hour sports bar with bowling. We didn't swim with dolphins or go-karting, but it's cool that you can without leaving the property.Service was good bc we had everything we needed, but it wasn’t particularly exceptional. Knowing Spanish helped us connect better with the staff & a good tip at the bar made the bartenders more generous (Special shoutout to Miguel Pat at the pool at Caribe/Beach—he was great).Aside from the restaurant staff, other employees seemed to be just going about their business. No one went hungry, if you’re not a food snob, you’ll find plenty. If you seek for a culinary experience, its not here.Santa Fe was my fave (Braised Short Ribs!) & Japanese restaurant fun, Capri for Italian disappointed.Pools are huge &clean.Beach is beautiful like in the Caribbean but Colonial's is rocky while Carib/Beach smooth & best beach. All in all I'd give a 3.99999 out of 5 stars.
