This hotel was in an incredibly convenient location and I enjoyed my short stay there. There was more noise from the street than my previous hotel that was more nestled into the neighborhood. My friend and I stayed at 3 different hotels while we were in Japan and Hotel Abest was our most favourite one - we would joke "Hotel Abest is the best". We liked the fact that the hotel was right in front of Kiyomizu-Gojo station, so it made travel around the city more easy. Also nice because it was only a 19-minute walk to Nishiki Market and 20-minute walk to the Gion area. There was a Lawson and Family Mart convenience store right across the street from us too. The staff were very polite and friendly and always greeted us when we would come and go through the lobby. I would stay here again if I came back to Kyoto :)

Chose this hotel for it's proximity to the train station, Gion and Nishiki market. We had a room w/2 twin beds. Very comfortable and a good size. Great shower. Clean. It was our favorite hotel of the trip (stayed @ 2 others). Staff was so nice and accommodating. Several spoke english perfectly which was helpful. Lawson and 7-11 across the street if you want an early morning coffee.
