This looked like an extremely charming, traditional Moroccan hotel, located a few miles outside Marrakech, and I choose this hotel because I wanted 4 days of rest from my hectic job, and wanted quiet time to spend writing an MBA dissertation. The site listed a running track as one of the facilties so I was looking forward to sleeping, writing and jogging.
The reality was vastly different. The hotel was situation much further from town and taxi drivers did their best to charge as much as possible for the long drive: it was more like 10 miles from Marrakech than 5, and over non-existing roads.
The hotel, which was rather nicely done inside, was situated in the middle of a poor village, with rubbish strewn about, so the air around the - tiny - pool was filled with flies so impossible to relax in the sun. But the worst thing were the dogs that gathered in packs at night in the front of the hotel and barked pretty much all night. I paid extra for a front, mountain view room, but this turned out to a disaster as I barely slept a wink all night.
There was no running track either so I took a chance and just ran in circles around the neighbourhood, and soon attracted an audience of kids begging for money and sweets.
The staff were very friendly though, and breakfast was good. There is no choice in the evening meal however; you eat what you are given.
Overall, this was a huge disappointment, so you should think about why you want to stay there. I left after 2 nights.
