Only two blocks walk to the central main avenue “Paseo del Prado”, the Casa de las Banderas” (the house with the many flags on the roof) is an excellent choice: a very nice and helpful host, a nicely tiled room with two beds (and excellent mattresses), a warm shower with good pressure, a little safe for your valuables and a cosy rooftop terrace. In the big fridge you find softdrinks and beers. Cienfuegos is by far the cleanest city we visited in Cuba and the walk along the Malecon to Punta Gorda is a must. At the end of the walk you can swim, have a nice lunch (quite cheap) and visit the hotel in Moorish style on the way back. The yellow villa on Punta Gorda used to be Fidel Castro’s favourite spot in Cienfuegos. He certainly knew where to look for a fine spot…
