Avoid at all costs. A total mush. Photos and description have nothing to do with the reality. It is supposed to be the grimiest, most run-down dormitory-like hostel on this beautiful island. 4-story blocks, elevator IS out of operation, built at a very high elevation and has a very steep, quarter mile road and heaps stairs. No porter, no staff. At 3PM room not ready. When noticing cleaning women, her stuff and what room she is cleaning for us, we got shocked. Pond of Clorox, moulds in shower. Paint patches everywhere. AC remote doesn’t work. To reach reception you have to climb 100 stairs. Broken stairs steps, dirty walls, must and peeled plaster. No internet reception in the room as advertized. Deceptive and Photoshop-enhanced photos. Everything needs to be reconditioned. NO REFUND DESPITE OF IMMEDIATE CHECKOUT. REPORTED TO EXPEDIA.

Good but needs refurbishing
Experience was good, largely thanks to the great location, and helpful staff. Otherwise, residence certainly needs some serious refurbishing

Breakfast was good but expensive, Rooms were shabby and not very clean, kitchen facilities inadequate, noisy work going on,laughed at twice when we asked how long work would continue. General condition of pool, buildings and facilities very run down and very expensive for quality of establishment.

This was a beautiful and convenient location for the price, and we loved having a kitchenette on our patio because the hotel doesn’t have a full-day restaurant. They do have a hot breakfast buffet that was very good! A strip of stores in town is very convenient.

It is very hard to find the front desk! There is a reception area that is outside and empty, and you basically have to go 6 floors up to find it. Also the front desk man keeps short hours, so if you try to check in late or check out early he won't be there

The hotel is dated. Rooms were comfortable, balcony with kitchenette was very useful. Bathrooms (showers) should have been cleaner. The staff tried to be helpful.

Elegant deserted wreck.
Grey Gardens of the carribean across from a fairly nice beach. Whole resort and boardwalk / town/ island suffering from economic malaise. Very far from American standards. Room was basic-, but clean. Staff was nice. Bare kitchenette. On site restaurant/bar was closed, pools were maintained.several of the building were no longer being used. Only about 20% occupied. If you go, bring Dish soap, sponge Paring knife and your own beachtowels. Historic sites were neat. You need to rent a car and have experience driving on tiny roads and chaotic roundabouts. If you have driven in the EU before and speak French, you can manage this adventure, other wise not recommended.

Not like described !!!!!!
We have book suite triple with sea view. We did not have (although the room description and our booking was claiming it is provided) the following items: two bathrooms, free toiletries, NO SITTING AREA (no sofa, coffee table and armchair, as supposedly shown on photos for this room)!!!, one night table was not working, wifi was suppose to work nearby swimming pool and was not working. All the photos at hotels.com are artificially coloured and do not reflect real colours. Main desk person did not tell us about kitchenette location (hidden in the locked wardrobe at the balcony) so we did not know it is at all in our room. Also he did not tell us beforehand all the necessary codes (in particular, to the pedestrian gate leading to the town). Overall, too expensive and providing shockingly misleading (incorrect) description.

Better than nothing but in need of a lot
My stay a tv the hotel was somewhat disappointing. There is no hotel restaurant or bar. So after 33 hours if flying it was difficult to find a place to get food. Reception was basic and the room was sparse. There was little soap and only one set of towels. We were promised another one but it never arrived. It is a pitybthat this is the hotel in the area. A truly disappointing stay

Don't judge a hotel by it's pictures
I felt that the pictures of this hotel were a little misleading. It's almost like the pictures of the hotel was from when it was brand new and when we arrived I felt as though there has been very little upkeep over the last 20 years. Our suite was ground level and only security was a fence. On our second night there someone stole food from our fridge (the kitchenette was on the patio). The reception was not open at night and my phone in the room did not work. The cleaning service only happens mid-week if you are staying a minimum of 7 nights. In my opinion it should be advertised as apartments instead of a hotel. Our room was quite sandy and dirty especially with being on the ground floor and going outside to eat. The pools were lovely and beach spectacular. Mainly I feel if it were advertised in a different way we would have had a difference experience.

Great location, just the basics
My family stayed at this hotel for the first four nights of our stay in Martinique. My 3 year old and 7 year old both loved the pool, specifically the two slides and waterfall. My son complained there wasn't enough shallow area for him to feel comfortable, but the pool certainly seems designed with kids in mind. The room was just the basics, exactly 3 spoons, 3 chairs, 3 towels, etc. for the Junior Triple room (my kids shared the pull out couch). It was great to have a door you could pull between where they slept and where we did and the outdoor kitchen on the terrace was wonderful for breakfasts and after the kids went to bed. The hotel had plenty of parking and was 5 min walk from a nice beach, 5 min drive from a fantastic one. I would have given a higher rating to this hotel if they just invested a bit in going above the bare minimum. They could, for example, provide a hand towel, dish soap, paper towels, garbage bags, wine bottle opener, or paring knife in the kitchen area. The beds were only moderately comfortable.

Nice view of the ocean.
For the price, this hotel was fine. Most of the hotel staff were very sweet and helpful. Several barely spoke english, so you'll do better if you can speak some French. Wifi was a joke -- there is no wifi in the rooms at all. It works okay in one part of the lobby, but took about 20 minutes to email a photo; definitely not high-speed. The rooms are only cleaned once a week, if you want your room cleaned more often, you have to pay extra. The only soap in the room was a bottle of body wash attached to the shower wall. Plan to bring or buy everything else, even for the kitchenette, as they do not include dish soap (or a sponge) either. There is a small store in the lobby where you can pay for these things, or a there's a Superette about a 25 minute walk away where you can buy soap and some foods, beer and wine as well. Rent a car at the airport! I didn't, and was subsequently limited to the bus (which come sometimes, about once an hour, but not reliably), and it's about 75 Euros to get to this place from the airport. It's an easy, short walk from the hotel to the closest beach, which is nice for swimming and readying, and easy to walk (5-10 mins) to lots of great spots for a fresh espresso, a great bakery, or tasty places to eat along the main road, but most everybody in Tartane drives all the time. If you want to surf, you need a car too, even though the break is a 25 minute walk, because the road to that part of Tartane is a dangerous, curvy and people drive really fast.

Very bad customer service
It was a terrible experience this time. This is my third time and the worst time of visiting this hotel. The receptionist kept us waiting for more than one hour and told us that he will not come and check the room for us. He asked for deposit and we gave him deposit but he refused to check the initial state of the room. He didn't check it untill another person came on shift.

My experience on my second visit
I thought my first visit was excellent but my second visit was more than excellent. I was placed close to the pool and I found the kitchen utensils quite useful and also complete. This includes cutleries, pots, plates microwave etc. The receptionist was very friendly and was able to communicate fluently in both English and French language. The swimming pool was fantastic. This hotel still remains the best hotel I have ever visited in Martinique. This hotel worth more than 5 star hotel. I'm highly pleased with their services.

My stay of splendor at Karibea residence la G.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel and I enjoyed my stay in it. The kitchenette is well built and very simple. The room is simple but self sufficient. The price is quite affordable. I like the neatness of the swimming pool and its design. I will recommend this hotel to anybody that might be interested
