Was greeted warmly by staff, and after going through registration was escorted to my room, which was ancillary to the main hotel building, which was a disappointment from the get-go. The room was in what reminded me of a converted outhouse. Everything you expect from a hotel was there, a bed, en-suite shower room, coffee making facilities, towels and complimentary toiletries. The room boasted a largish flat TV. What was missing in my view was a chair and a bedside light. There was a stool for the vanity mirror, but sitting having a coffee in the room would have to be done on the bed.
This was a large single occupancy with a double bed and very little room to move around it. Compact would suitably describe it. However for the money in the area it was good value. Wifi is offered, didn't have a device to try it.
The room rate included breakfast, continental or Full English. The Full English was served to order, and I noticed that their was a significant difference in the breakfast regarding time of arrival, i.e. the sooner after service started , the hotter the food served. The breakfast items were OK, nothing special. Like all hotel restaurants they could do better, a mixture of under and over cooked items on the same plate. The coffee served was not to my taste.
They have recently re-introduced real ale to their drinks menu, the dining menu didn't appeal but mirrored the online version except for price.
Would I stay there again? Probably, but would opt for a room only tariff.
