The gardens around the property are beautiful, and all of the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms is very inconsistent.
The first room we were allocated was very old and tired, with a removable padlock on the door, a dated bathroom that looked stained and unclean, and no television, despite the Expedia listing stating that our room included one. After we queried the missing TV, the hotel moved us to another room. This room was significantly better and genuinely felt like we had checked into a different hotel.
The property has a lot of charm and potential, but it doesn’t appear to have been maintained to the standard expected of a four-star resort. I also twisted my ankle after stepping into a gap in the stairs, which is a quite a safety hazard (see photo).
Overall, I wouldn’t rate this as a 4-star property. In my opinion, it is closer to a 3-star resort. Given my experience, I’m also surprised by its 9.4 rating on Expedia, especially as I stayed at several other hotels in Bali that offered a much higher standard of accommodation and maintenance.
