Nice hotel with rough beach. The three pools are very nice but it’s tough to swim off the beach. The road into the hotel is in terrible shape, but this will only affect rental car drivers. Rooms are ok but on the older side. Food was good but not great…Hibachi-ish restaurant, rodizio-ish restaurant, and Italian-ish restaurant. Nowhere to get decent coffee unfortunately. Generally the staff was very friendly and responsive.

August 2024 was our second visit to OCT. Our previous trip was in December 2018. Once again, we had a fantastic vacation and highly recommend this resort. Both times we opted for the Privilege upgrade. Check-in/Check-Out: Both processes were smooth. We arrived around 1PM. The lobby is open air so there is no AC. Of course, in August this can get quite hot but we didn’t spend very much time here. Once we were checked in, Alberto, our concierge, took us to the Privilege lounge for lunch and took this time to discuss what our plans were for the week and set up our dinner reservations. Our room was ready well before 3PM and our luggage awaited us in our room. Alberto is the best; he would text us and find us around the pool daily to make sure that we had everything we needed. He also set up the Mayan dinner and spa appointments with a quick text. Room: We were in building 2, room 2302 in the El Beso section and had one of the updated rooms. It was very comfortable for two people. Some things could use a refresh (the sink and couch had some noticeable stains) but in general, it was very comfortable. The safe worked well. There is an abundance of closet space. The balcony and bed were very comfortable. The TV and fridge worked without any issues. The fridge was restocked daily with plenty of water, sodas and alcohol. We had no issues with the AC or the fan, which was a blessing since it was very hot in August. The maid service was excellent and the room was refreshed daily and prom

We were assigned the wrong room and had to request another one. The street to go into the property is not kept and and has poor light illumination. The restaurants staff were not accommodating and not friendly, except for one restaurant which turn around the experience for us. Villa Marina Restaurant. Pool did not look really clean.

Definitely the way it has been advertised. It's not. Unfortunately. We had very bad experience with the pools. They were always dirty in the 4 days that you were there. There was no really good staffing to help you get drinks or order anything in pool area. They limited hours is definitely more than limited hours. There are specific times that you cannot even find a towel there. There is no staff to hand you towels or station that you can pick it up. I personally do not recommend going there. If you're looking for some very good experience, it's probably just good or fair. You just need to know the lobby is all open. It's very hot and humid. They're always exposed to the weather. There's no air conditioning there

Pros Property was clean although dated it could do with some upgrades. Most staff was bilingual which was a plus and friendly. Cons limited entertainment and activities, food options were limited, the same items were served night after night, even at the a-la-carte restaurants the menus were the same each night granted our group stayed six nights. Limited drink options, like how can you not have orange juice which is universal, that was definitely a turn off.

The pools were nice. The rooms were clean. Thankfully the air worked well in the room. We were unhappy with the fact that most of the restaurants did not have air conditioning. It was very hot, 90 each day. The lack of air made our dining experiences not enjoyable. The wait staff was sweating, the cooks were drenched in sweat and we were hot. The heat made the experience not very inviting. In addition the mini fridges need to be updated. They were old and didn't keep the room beverages cold. The staff was nice. The servers were wonderful. This was a bargain compared to the last time I visited a different resort. However, I would have rather paid more to have air conditioned places to eat.
