Connaught
A tired looking hotel, but comfortable enough for our short stay.
Pete, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Awful
Don’t have anything positive to say about the hotel overall to be honest. 3 of us stayed in 3 separate rooms and all had issues. I had a room where the heating wouldn’t switch off, mattress was uncomfortable and felt like it needed flipping, also my shower was held together with electrical tape. The second of us had no heating whatsoever and ended up sleeping in his coat on what seemed to be an old uncomfortable mattress. The third of us had to move rooms due to an overpowering smell of mould. Hotel very dated and worn down, no lift at all. Screaming kids down every hallway. Won’t ever be coming back

Terrible
The hotel is filthy dont think they employ cleaners as rooms had stuff all over the walls carpets filthy mouldy peace of fruit or something next to the bed under the bedside floating table

The hotel is very tired, and appears to be full of permanent residents. There was no food available, people running up and down the hallway after 12.00pm shouting Awful place

Read the reviews
I should have read the reviews before booking. Not fit to stay.

Very run down rooms and corridors. The water in the toilet cistern was flowing all night so loud. Also 2am some people were arguing shouting in the corridor or some other room

I really think that Expedia should visit this hotel and then take it off their web site.

Terrible hotel. Falling apart. Staff unwilling to assist with multiple broken items. No facility maintenance exists. Incredibly dirty.
John, 1-night trip

Very poor
This was booked for my granddaughter for a concert. They could not stay, the hotel was filthy, the roof was leaking, the toilet was broken, the bed stank of urine and the mattress was badly stained. Avoid, we are trying to get a refund via my credit card. My grandaughter and her friend were offered drugs in the car park, they are 21and 22 and were too sacred to go back so drove back to Wales. Dusting place. We have lots of photos. The roof had a massive h9le in it

Very average for more than an average price
Generally poor. Overall it looked run down and shabby both inside and out. The room itself looked OK but all the fixtures and fitting were very chunky and the toilet seat was broken."Reception" area was very unwelcoming with the receptionist hidden behind notices and computer screens. Pricy for what we got compared with other hotels we have stayed in recently. Overall very basic and certainly not remotely worth the £150 it cost for the room for one night.

6/10 Good

Having read some of the reviews, I approached my visit - particularly the guest who said that he would have rather slept in his car- but it was ok. It wasn't perfectly clean and the shower was a bit hit and miss (my son said the shower in hid room was great), but it was ok. Petfectly average, but not good value - my room was £125. The biggest issue was one of the windows in my room would've close so not ideal in November. Would I stay there again? No. It was over priced and too nany niggly issues.

Hotel obviously being brought up to standard but no breakfast or restaurant available during our stay, some fittings in our room were not up to standard(bathroom tap loose, one light did not worketc). Staff were ok
dave, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

This hotel is a disaster. Lift was broken, main door to the park8ng lot was broken, window in our room was broken, rugs were torn and dirty, linens were dirty. Right outside of our room, a huge piece of the ceiling had collapsed and there was a caution cone in the middle of the hallway. Upon check-in, the desk clerk hand-wrote our room number on the key card. In more than 30 years of travel, this is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Terrible. Shut it down.
This was the worst hotel I have stayed in in years. The name suggests something far better than reality. The hotel is very tired. The restaurant does not operate. The clientele seem to be mainly local workers (some nice people but a bit scary). The bath was flimsy and had a burn mark in it. The room was otherwise clean. The fire alarm went off early morning. There was a lot of commotion from a couple of doors down in the night. I then received a fine from a third party company because I had parked in the car park overnight. I saw no signs and no mention was made about parking when I checked in. The website said that parking was free. Never again will I consider staying at that hotel. It should be shut down.

great stay, superb hospitality.
we had a fantastic stay at the Connaught, even tho it's under a bit of a refurb, it looks like it's being modernized, everything was great, smooth check in, spotless room, free parking, literally no complaints, but overall special thanks to Tony, what a superb host, nothing was too much bother, he (and Adam) are an absolute credit.

Tired but Cosy.
A tired hotel with a certain Faulty Towers charm.

Very comfortable bed. However the property is part way through a refurbishment which is impacting on the cleanliness of the public areas and rooms.

The hotel is dirty smelly. The room is dirty a used tea spoon was left in room. The towel had stink on it. The hotel need a revamped. From the reception area the hotel looks great but once u get to first floor felt like u are in a different building

Check in was smooth. The lift didnt work, so glad qe were on the 1st floor. There was immediate sign on long term damp along the corridor. The room smelt like it needed air. The walls need a pait. There were stains all.over the walls, even in the bathroom. We had to ask for the heating to be on in the evening and it was straight away. It served its purpose for a budget nught stay, but i wouldn't stay here again unless it has a makeover. The doors to the rooms have to be slammed shut also, meaning you can always jear banging.

8/10 Very good

I liked the excellent and friendly staff. I didn't like that there was not a servicing of the room on the Saturday or the Sunday.

Stay at Wolverhampton
It was ok for one night. Hotel is undergoing renovations.
1-night trip

6/10 Good

Tired room and no fresh / clean mugs tea or coffee for day 2. Tv barely worked no live tv had to use Netflix ac but remote needs new batteries hence very slow and frustrating. Location was good for what I needed, reception is the bar and staff varied from kind and helpful to no words and just nod of head
2-night trip

6/10 Good

Basic but in the middle of updates that will help.
A basic hotel for a basic price. In the middle of some updating by the looks of it and definitely needs it in the corridors. Staff very friendly and helpful.
John, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

This is a basic hotel at a great price. The room is clean and great for a 1 night overstay. The personnel were great and very helpful. Still able to get a few beers in the evening below at the desk. Rooms on the top floors are noisy. Free parking behind the hotel is very convenient. Hotel itself is not clean but they are re-decorating the inside. All in all: Happy to have found it and happy to leave.
Jacobus John, 1-night trip

Terrible place door didn’t lock No tv remote Bed was wet from who ever stayed before us and it came through the sheets in the night
