Owner was helpful and accommodating, and the property is clean, well-maintained and in good condition. There is also a small parking area at the back.
The advert/hotel info on Hotels.com however was a bit misleading as we expected that there is a big, relaxing pool waiting for us at the property after a long drive from a different part of Italy. What we didn’t realise was that this “outdoor pool” is a public pool located about 10 minutes away by car from the property and that you have to pay 14 Euros per person to get in.
The info sheet on Hotels.com lists that there is a “seasonal outdoor pool” in the property and the set of pictures even start with an inviting view of this massive pool to catch one’s attention. In reality, the pool is very busy and it may have seen better days.
We went to this public pool anyway on our first day so as not to disappoint the kids but transferred to a much better one in Chianciano (about 9 kms away) the following day. It is heated, it is cleaner, it has fewer people, and it has more spacious parking.
In future, it will be better and more honest if Hotels.com or La Gustea clearly indicate in the info that there is an “outdoor pool nearby (around 400 meters from the hotel)”. And please do not use the pool picture as Picture Number 1 - La Gustea is using another property’s amenities to hook you in.
