My first impression of this hotel was great disappointment as soon as we walked in the drab entranceway. The real shock was the room we had on the 3rd floor near the roof with 2 small windows looking out onto roof tiles. It was dim because it had only 2 small lights near the bed and 1 ceiling light with a low watt bulb. The 4 corners of the room were dark because the lighting was inadequate so it was difficult to see into our luggage, which had to be put on a old piece of wood attached to the wall. We felt as though we were in the attic of a grandmother’s dated house. There was a nonworking floor lamp with a stained shade. There was a chair with a stained seatpad. The airconditioning worked but it was noisy. Because it was an attic room 1 side of the wall sloped down at an angle so we had to be careful not to hit our heads on the wood beam. Yes, the small bathroom was renovated and modern. The shower worked well. Still, at almost $400 a night for this hotel, we were shocked at how overpriced this dated and shabby room was. The website photos did not match with reality. Last, the expensive breakfast was completely inadequate. It was the most plebeian and limited fare of food. We do not intend to be harsh but we need to warn other travelers. The staff, although nice, did not make up for an experience we had to tolerate unhappily, having been required to pay when booking for a nonrefundable room. Anyone paying more than $100 a night here should beware of what you’re getting.

I can’t say enough about this hotel. My room the first night was hot. The air conditioner was blocked by a wardrobe…I ask for another room and was moved to a much cooler room. Very easy friendly staff. A great location. A 5-7 minute walk from the train station and very close to the city centers.

This was a nice hotel very close to the main train station so very conveient. Staff was friendly and plenty of sites and restaurants in the immediate area. Although its an older hotel, it was very clean and it had everything you would need. The fridge in room with water was great. Would definitely recommend.

Everything is as stated by the hotel, tho the facilities is bit dated, but it's not like like they are trying to promote it as a modern hotel anyway, can tell they are trying their best to keep everything to the standard. Location and convenient are both excellent that goes without saying. Staff is exceptionally nice and helpful, our flight got delayed for hours, and arrived at the hotel at around 9 or 10pm, upon check-in they even suggest us where for dinner at those late hours, can totally count on their 24 hours reception. And I can confirm with the luggage storage at the hotel too, it is totally free, we checked out in the morning and stored our luggage until same day after dinner to pick it up, just one thing to be noticed tho, that it is not stored in a room but rather in their common area, but the staff has ensured me their safety is well covered by the CCTV, staff at the reception anytime and insurance. In short I will definitely come back to stay if I am visiting Florence again.

Description said there was air-conditioning at the City Hotel, as well as a sign on the door at the hotel that they had air-conditioning. However, it did NOT. Had to leave with the windows opened and heard the people, dogs etc in the streets 24/7. No ice, No fans. Manager wouldn’t compensate us and told us to talk with Expedia. Even though the staff couldn’t accommodate us, they were friendly. , good location. L was no ice (the machine was broken)

The staff was absolutely lovely and the location is just perfect. Since it is on the more affordable side when it comes to this area of Florence, I really cannot complain. But just so you know, the room was a bit noisy (the other people in the hotel, but the street), and everything smelled vaguely like cigarette smoke. I think it is mostly from just everyone smoking in Italy, then coming inside and sleeping on the mattress. That being said, I had a good stay and felt the price was appropriate.
