Petra Gate Hotel seems to be a youth hostel because when we booked two rooms, one for each of us, each room had multiple beds. One had three single beds, and the other had four. I didn't have a problem with that; I just wanted a private room to myself, and I got it! Each room had one electrical outlet, but a power-strip was available to provide multiple outlets. Towels and soap were provided upon request.
The hotel arranged for us to have an evening at the Turkish Baths at a discount. When we had a complaint about the baths, the hotel was quick to follow up with them to resolve it.
Customer service was outstanding here. The hotel may seem a bit rundown, with old plastered walls painted in fading colors, cheap bedding (mine was covered with kid's "Dora the Explorer" blankets), and bare basics. If you're looking for luxury, don't look here. But if you want a bed, shower, breakfast and some quiet sleep at a good price, this is the place.
The location is excellent: about a mile from the main entrance to Petra's ruins, and in the center of modern-day Petra. Restaurants, shops and every kind of convenience is readily available either next door, across the street or within a city block.
Best was the excellent customer service from the receptionist. I wish I had gotten her name so I could post it here. She was outstanding!
