This hotel is very conveniently located close to Ishiyama station, which is on a main line to Kyoto and further to Osaka and Kobe. Beautiful lake Biwa and the Seta river are also nearby, as well as various sites of historical or cultural interest. Like most hotels in Japan, space is more limited as compared to many other countries so the room seems small by Western standards but is relatively good in comparison with other Japanese hotels of a similar price. There is free internet access and a kettle for making your own hot drinks, besides breakfast being included too. The breakfast offers both Oriental and Western style foods, although the selection is limited (which is understandable given the size of the hotel). If you wonder (as I did) why a cuckoo is calling repeatedly in the morning, the answer is found by looking out the window and realizing that the sound comes from a nearby pedestrian crossing whenever people use it to cross the road!
The hotel staff were extremely helpful in answering my questions about the local area, and other topics, and they provided a map of the local area on which they marked the locations of various places to eat in the vicinity. In general, it was a very nice hotel.
