I brought my dog. To me, the way he is greeted is more important than how I am.
The owner of the motel is a dog-lover herself. She has four (five?) dogs, who she obviously loves. I believe that two of them were rescued from abroad.
My dog got a big piece of liverwurst from her. No restrictions were placed on him being in the room. When he barked at a cat, it was OK.
I like it when people like my dog, and respects him. He is, after all, not only a dog. He is also my partner (he has worked with me as a therapy dog since my family first got him) and a great friend.
Too many places in this world, dogs are not allowed. They are seen as dirty creatures.
However, a dog can be the most empathetic, sympathetic being you can find.
Therefore - treat my dog with dignity. Like they did at Hotel Varde
