A lovely inn, dating from the 17th century, with a wood-burning stove in the bar adding to the warmth of the welcome! Clean, comfortable, and with every attention to detail, the customer's comfort is paramount to the friendly and helpful staff who populate this hotel.
An early riser, I was always present when cleaning was taking place downstairs and observed how thoroughly this was done. Staff work hard, and do not allow conversation to distract from the task in hand.
My room was serviced every day, and, although I could have chosen not to let this happen, it was such a pleasure to return from breakfast to a clean room and a neatly made up bed.
Breakfast was unfailingly freshly cooked and hot. Meals were always of a high standard, and bar service prompt and efficient.
Much Wenlock is a lovely old town. The Guildhall and The Priory are both worth a visit, and the area abounds with attractions for tourists, including the fascinating Blists Hill Victorian Town, for which the visitor should set aside several hours. a trip to Shrewsbury was simple and straightforward, due to the frequency of the Park and Ride. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
