The hotel is a basic, no frills place. We got a first floor room with 2 double beds. There's a mini fridge (nothing inside, it's just a convenience for you), a hot water pot for tea (coffee is offered in the mornings at the lobby), and hotel kimonos with slippers for each patron. I didn't notice street noise, but then the road outside the window wasn't really built for cars. The beds were firm, but comfortable. For those that like pillow tops or memory foam, it may be considered really hard. They offered flatter or puffy pillows, just ask.
The bathroom is RV compact, but cute. The bathtub was deep, made for soaking while sitting. When you showered, the length of the tub was about as WIDE as my tub at home, so it was pretty tiny. The shower head wasn't adjustable and felt like needles in spots. Hot water was pretty immediate and HOT. Non-disposable shampoo, conditioner, and bath wash liquid was offered, as was disposable toothbrush/toothpaste and razors.
The nice staff also spoke some English.
The location is a 5 min walk to Ueno Station, which means that it's also a 5 min walk to: Ueno Park, Ameyoko Shopping Street, and the shopping markets of Ueno. Because of the Panda Bridge, which is just for pedestrians and goes over a huge traffic area, you didn't have to worry about cars or even a crosswalk. There were at least 5 restaurants in our walking path between the hotel and the station. AND there's also a 24 hr convenience store within 3 minutes of the hotel.
