Greetings,
My friend and I stayed at the Locanda Ippopotamo for 3 nights at the beginning of September 2015.
The location is amazing, right outside the ampitheatre in the Piazza Bra. The check in at the restaurant in the front of the piazza is a bit unconventional, it is simply a roll top desk, but everything was organized and very professional. All the staff we encountered both at the hotel and restaurant were very friendly, accomodating and professional. Nadia was the manager and the contact person who helped us whenever we needed her.
One quirk of the room, the air conditioning doesn't engage if the windows are open and one of the balcony windows didn't close properly. Nadia quickly helped us sort this out.
Our room (twin beds) was very comfortable and the bathroom was amazing.I believe our room theme was the Barber of Seville? The rooms are decorated according to operatic themes. The attention to detail is obvious, travellers needs were definitely in mind.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, so there were a fair number of stairs to navigate, but it is Italy! There is a mechninism for those that can't do stairs available.
One other small point, we couldn't find any English channels on the TV but we were so busy that this really wasn't an issue, we didn't even have time to ask Nadia about it.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Verona.
Cheers,
Jenny
