Really nice hotel and nice breakfast. We stayed for two nights and were satisfied with the big room nice beds. TV works well and large shower and restroom. Great deal for the price.

There is a long driveway from the road that leads to the hotel property however there are no road side signs telling you where to turn in so even with GPS it's easy to miss.

Loved our stay at the Orator. The staff were so kind. Our dinner was delivered to our room. The breakfasts were great too. The staff were so helpful, as we had left some belongings in our taxi, and they put extra effort into assisting us.
As for the property itself, its beautiful. However, it does need some TLC. Apart from that, it was a lovely stay!

As soon as you drive into the property it looked deserted and old. Mostly everything was outdated. Our room was ok apart from the sliding door being hard to pull open. Beds were ok too. The room needed to be renewed or renovated cause it looked too old fashion especially the bathroom. We didn’t use the pool cause of how ugly and old it looked and there was another pool that was emptied and very deep so that was a big safety hazard especially if you have kids. Their deck needed to be fixed cause it was broken, falling apart and unsafe too. The breakfast was probably the best part of our stay. We checked out an hour late and got charged an extra 240 tala only to check in at taumeasina that same day just to find out that taumeasina only charges 50 tala for every hour you’re late for checkout so we realised how ridiculous it was to be charged 240 at the orator. A big rip off!! Overall I would say don’t bother paying to stay here when you can stay somewhere else for the exact same price but in better conditions. Overpriced and overrated. This hotel used to be one of my favourites back then but they seriously have lost their touch

The entrance and reception area of the hotel was impressive but as you walked into the property, the walkways were in need of repair, the rooms were tired and the most disappointing of all was that the swimming pools were out of order and had been for some time (water was green, unlike the pictures on Expedia). The surrounding gardens were nice though and the staff were really nice and tried their best to make us welcome. The food was better than expected, with buffet breakfast included.

It should be made clear that our issue is less about the property and more to do with Expedia disingenuous advertising of its current amenities status. We understand and believe that the property owners have articulated to Expedia to update their profile accordingly, and Expedia have failed to do this. The property owners graciously gave us a full cash refund of what they received from Expedia - and I will be pursuing Expedia to return the commission they receive to me as well. I do not believe Orator was at fault, I believe Expedia was.
