Somewhat disappointing
The woman who checked us in at the front desk was extremely nice (even with language barrier difficulties). However, the hotel was a bit of a disappointment. It was very rundown and appeared to be in various stages of renovation here and there, but it looked like they'd run out of money or something during renovations. It was very strange. At night it seemed empty, like we were the only humans there, no other guests, no employees, nothing. Weird. Our room was pretty old, and while the room was not filthy, I wouldn't say that the cleaning staff had not made much effort beyond the minimal. There were a ton of outdoor tennis courts that you could tell at one time had made the place a premier tennis camp; however, like the rest of the hotel, the courts needed work. Throughout the hotel, no working Internet.
On the plus side, it was a very short drive to the town part of Karlovy Vary, which is a pretty neat and colorful little place.
