The GM, Eugene, started this hotel in may 2015, has lived in the UK for 13 years, and like in all Ghananian hotels where the management has experience in the west, it's noticable. Service is good and interest for improvement/ideas is genuine. Eugene's employees are 100% ghananian and he's really hard working on improving their service-level and way of thinking/disciplin to a more western-alike.
Also, as he has bought the property less than a year ago, Eugene, still has a lot to do, but also has the ideas about how to. But this is mainly regarding the surroundings, the rooms in the hotel were big and fine. The airco wasn't working, it should have been repaired while Eugene was on a business trip, but when returning, something had been done with it, but it still wasn't fixed. It's typical for Ghana, and if your duty manager isnt aware of what to check, it's hard. Eugene spends lots of time of training his staff and I hope he will succeed. It's hard to get the ghananian mentality out of staff that don't know anything else as that lifestyle.
For now, the restaurant was like all other hotel-restaurants in Ghana, few choices (20%) of what was on the menu, but ok food. We've given Eugene some tips on how to improve.
We wish Eugene good luck and we hope he has the fundings and patience to work out his ideas. If it works out well, I can foresee a bright future for his hotel, also due to the location on the beach.
