Hôtel Darcet was a nice, clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. The room was small but enough space for me and excellent temperature control. The coffee machine in the lobby served free cappuccino, lattes, espresso, hot chocolate, and more. They also had hot tea.
The reason I didn’t rate all 5 stars was because of the design of the front door to the hotel. It’s wide, heavy, and the entry hall is so narrow, you’re likely to bump your shoes with the door when exiting. I was wearing Teva sandals when I opened the door on my first day and the door ripped off the toenail on my right toe … and let me tell you, it hurt! A lot! And it bled a lot.
I was surprised to learn that the hotel did NOT have a first aid kit … they didn’t even have any bandaids or antiseptic. A roll of toilet paper was all I could get. The young man tending the front desk was very concerned and was very helpful … and he said he would recommend to the manager that they get a first aid kit.
A smaller door might give those exiting the hotel, a little more room. Unless that happens, I recommend that customers AVOID WEARING SANDALS!
One blemish on an otherwise very nice stay at Hotel Darcet, but that door significantly impaired my walking mobility for 2 weeks (and counting.)
