Gwahumbe is well maintained, the reception area is welcoming with lots of attention to detail, and check in was quick. We stayed at the Eagles Nest unit, which was perched on the top of a hill, where we enjoyed stunning views of the valley below, from the deck and the infinity pool. The unit was spacious, comfortable and immaculate, with 3 bedrooms and an upstairs loft, and 3 bathrooms. The rooms were well furnished with good quality bedding. The one bathroom had a bath, and the other 2 had walk in showers, but the water pressure in one of the showers was erratic. The kitchen was basic but functional and clean, and there was more than adequate tea/coffee provisions, with some yummy rusks to go with it. There is no tv in the unit, which the kids were not too happy about, but we really enjoyed the private boma, which gave us an opportunity to reconnect as a family without any other distractions. There is free WiFi at reception, and good cellphone coverage.
Service is helpful and efficient.
There are not many amenities at Gwahumbe, but the spa treatment was good, and we enjoyed the challenge of the 4x4 trails, and the walks on the game reserve, which gives you an opportunity to view the animals and the extensive birdlife from quite close.
We love the fact that Gwahumbe lodge allows you to relax in complete privacy in a peaceful environment, unlike the highly commercialized busy resorts, that are buzzing with people and staff. Looking forward to our next visit
