Although poor staff member on arrival tried to assist as best he could, nothing worked in the room including no hot water. Language was a problem and we got out of there as soon as daylight arrive the following morning.

Don't book with this hotel or hotels.com
Please do not stay here or book with hotels.com. Booked last minute, pictures look great, but it is run down and dirty, but was forced to stay here by hotels.com because their policy is get approval from hotel to cancel. But no one was answering phones. No policy in place, that if the room is filthy and they cannot contact hotel (tried calling between 230pm and 530pm) that I don't get a refund.
I was told by the girl at reception that it is this dirty because they rent it out to groups of chinese tourists.
Here is part of the transcript:
Don't worry we will do our best here to negotiate with the hotel when they became available.
They WONT be available
So what am I to do?
Do I have to go stay there?
That was my budget for accomodation
John Joseph M.

That is the best option the we have right now to stay at the hotel while we are waiting with them.
Hotels.com actually booked this hotel through expedia so have no negotiating powers.

Would not stay here again...
Lots of pros and cons to this hotel. Starting with the pros, the accommodation (villa) was amazingly and truly breathtaking. Great design of the villa with spa jacuzzi bath and open top shower. The swimming pool and sun bed area was lovely, great sun trap and very relaxing with all of the natural rainforest background music.
Cons, the biggest has to be the reception and would say that needs to be the biggest area to improve. When we checked in there was very limited information given due to the reception staff member not being able to speak any English. As a hotel you should have someone that can speak a selection of languages to host their guests. The resorts location is very rural off the main road from the airport to Phuket town. Taxis were extortionate prices so we were forced to hire a moped for the first evening. There's a restaurant on site, but after many attempts to find how to book a table. We found out it was closed on our first night. They had a room service menu but that wasn't on either. There is no signs around the resort so trying to find anything is hard. I would struggle to warrant the fitness centres title due to there being just a ball for stretches, rowing machine and treadmill in an empty room. The morning after we were told we needed to pay for damage on the moped. With photo evidence I proved it wasn't us, the receptionist looked annoyed she couldn't not charge me. This is a B&B not a hotel, very limited staff on site!

Weird
Rooms are big, comfortable and quite clean except for the couch which I would not sit on. Pool is good and also clean. Breakfast is ordinary.
The place is just odd. When we arrived we were told there was a problem with the 'electronics" and the ac wasn't working so they would send us to another hotel. We refused to go and insisted on staying there and our ac miraculously worked immediately. I think they constantly overbook. If you are arriving much after 4 pm I would not trust them to give you a room. Also the place is only good if you have your own transport as there is literally nothing close by.

Do not book this hotel!
Having booked the hotel online through Expedia for same day arrival (who were advertising several room types available and emailed confirmation of the reservation) it transpired, on arrival at the hotel, that there were no rooms available and the booking did not exist.

Bad news
We booked and paid for a villa... They told us we had a free upgrade available so we reluctantly agreed.. when they took us to our room it was an obvious huge downgrade. We then discovered their true intentions when at about midnight a huge busload of Japanese tourists shows up yelling and hooting for two hours while they pilled into our villa. We then tried to talk to management for the refund because we stayed in the room that was half the price of the villa but had no luck with that. Will not return.. also no wifi and the shower was a Luke warm trickel at best.

Worth a visit but you need your own transport
Cleanliness very good and owner attentive but you do need a car if you want to get out, as quite a remote location.

Such a shame the facilities not up to setting
We were very disappointed with our stay here. Despite the setting being beautiful with well kept gardens the overall standard of service was poor and facilities not at all as described. The room was large with big screen TV but the promised choice of channels was non-existent. Tea & coffee facilities were described but no coffee was there. We asked for coffee expecting a sachet of instant coffee to be provided, but were offered a ready made cup and then charged $4 for that! There was no chair in the room to work at the large desk and when I asked for one was laughed at! The gym images shown are obviously computer generated and only a few low quality pieces of equipment were provided. For dinner I had in mind a romantic setting with good food and service, however, there is no restaurant at this hotel despite one being described! There is a small open air seating area for breakfast and that's it. Our choice was to eat here or take an overpriced taxi to nearby spot so we gave the hotel food a go. The moment we sat down at the breakfast area were attacked by mosquitoes so asked to eat in our room. We ended up sitting on the sofa in the room eating from our laps as there were no other chairs and no table. Breakfast the next morning was passable though. When we came to leave the hotel offered a very overpriced taxi to the airport which I refused to pay and talked them down in price. The whole experience left a very sour taste which is a shame as this place could be so much better.

Value for money & excellent room space & design
Positives are excellent room designs with pool access, we had a very helpful reception female staff whom was willing to go extra mile & helped us with car rental which saved us from catching taxis (which costs quite abit to travel within phuket. Ie it takes 1hr to drive from airport to Patong) so thank you very much to you if you read this!
Downside is the breakfast food. It was all cold when we went there even around early in morning. Staff are very friendly and keep refilling food but most hot food were left there cold & that wasn't a very nice experience.
Other than breakfast, everything in hotel is an excellent hideaway from city & just to relax & value for money for the room you get.

Peaceful location
The villa rooms are fantastic, whereas the suites are much more ordinary. Overall, the hotel is new, clean, comfortable, and a fantastic value. You'll need your own transportation to get around, so only stay here if you've rented a car or scooter. The breakfast room is small and can be quite hectic.

Total lack of management
We stayed there for a week and thanks good that we had a rent a car otherwise we would be stuck there completely.
Hotel is very remote, no any restaurant or shop in 3-4 km at least. At the same time hotel restaurant (If we could say that it was a restaurant at all) charged 5-6 times more than normal restaurant. Taxi to the beach is 700-800THB.
We booked a island tour with tour operator and they charged us 1200THB extra due to the hotel being too far.
Breakfast.. awfull - only eggs, rice and noodles, some days we had strawberry jam some was just orange jam and once there was a bacon.
TV is room got only 12 channels and non of them in english. You can pray that there will be a english spoken movie with subtitles to watch something. Once we pointed it out to the hotel manager he suggested to learn thai so we can spoke with the locals and watch TV.
Pool was dirty and it took 2 days after complaining daily to get it cleaned. Also there is no way to get out of the pool, no steps, handrails ... nothing. Poor design I guess.
Rooms were generally good and cleaned well.
There are a loot of homeless dogs in the area and the noise they create night time is scary.
We had a loot of ants into our room, once complained - the management and staff didn't even bother to come and have a look. Thanks good that they didn't got into the beds.
So generally speaking - hotel was complete disappointment.

Great Vacation!
Wanaburi Hotel was great! The service crew was generally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good! We loved the location of the place, simply because it's away from the busy streets and it's quiet. If you're looking for a nice and quiet getaway, Wanaburi Hotel definitely offers that. Rooms were very spacious, clean and, I was personally impressed with their furniture. However, their balconies aren't furnished and there are no chairs to the room. Other than a sofa. But other than that, my partner and I had a great time there!
