First time in over 30 years of vacationing utilizing Expedia that I am leaving a negative review. Well warranted though. Arrived as planned and property is well maintained, great staff and just off the water. HOWEVER, upon check in we learned our room was not a beachfront (not a huge issue), but not mentioned through Expedia. Instead, we were in a room 30 feet from a 4 lane major thoroughfare. The unregulated motorcycles with no exhausts, sirens, horns at all hours of the night not only meant no sitting out on the small deck, but also that we had to wear earplugs to even sleep! I wish I were kidding. The owner, while empathetic admitted that they were "aware of the noise issue" with our unit. I attempted to find another place to stay for the week, but all decent places were booked. Bottom line is this: I booked 3 months in advance. If there was a warning or mention of hiway noise (instead of ocean front as the pictures imply), I WOULD HAVE BOOKED ELSWHERE. Instead, and thousands of dollars later, we had a terrible stay due to a room that should be storage and not billed as a "beach cottage". Expedia, action needs to occur as this bookings descriptions were misleading. The owner offered to move us to a unit just below, but it was the same distance. They stated they would try to seal the door to the deck (off the master) as there was daylight showing around the entire door, but no repairs were made. For reference, I lived in downtown Houston, Dallas, metro DC. This was worse.
