Due to the location of the resort, it is extremely difficult to communicate with anyone, either before arriving or while waiting for a boat to transport you back to the resort after spending a day away. Every adventure we chose to participate in was amazing and the resort employees who accompanied us provided exceptional service. Other than eating chicken every day and sometimes twice a day, the food was exceptional! We relaxed and that was what we were hoping to be able to do! Thank you!

We visited in September and had an amazing time. The staff were incredible and we highly recommend it. What we also really enjoyed is the small number of guests who were most like minded which made for a fun trip. Unfortunately there were winds, so no surf but the swimming, the daily events that the team put on made it fun. Def off the beaten track and highly recommend.

Maqai Eco Resort is a very special place. #1 in friendly, caring and fun staff who treat and love everyone as a family member! Each bure has a sitting deck & is just steps from the beautiful beach with hammocks. We loved eating outside at the Sand Bar & hanging there with couches, chairs, pool table etc. Activities available to do or to do nothing:) You won’t regret time spent here.

Bula!…The stay was beyond amazing. The entire staff strive to make your trip the trip of a lifetime. The weather wasn’t great during our stay but the staff offered events such as volleyball and ping pong tournaments. Food was delicious as well. We will be back!

Great, fun resort with beautiful people. Beautiful beach. If you want a hut on the beach experience with kava nights where you sing and sit around playing guitar, play pingpong, volleyball, go for hikes, make coconut jewelry, kayak, paddleboard and swim, this is top notch.

This place is amazing. Low key, beautiful place. Not fancy, but paradise. Off the beaten track for sure - you have to take a car to a boat and then boat ride to get there. When you get there you will be taken care of and eat some amazing food. The staff are wonderful and the place is beautiful. You do have to pay for the meal plan because there’s no other way to eat but it’s very delicious.

Cathy and staff were absolutely wonderful! Fabi is great in the kitchen and the volley court. Floyd is as sweet as can be, front of house, in the bar and of course on the volleyball court. They took great care of us and ensured we had a memorable stay. The beach is gorgeous and the snorkeling right from the beach is beautiful. They offer free snorkels, kayak and SUPS. The gear is great. We played volleyball with the staff. The food is well worth it and we walked away from each meal very satisfied. The rooms are basic but that’s all you need when you are steps away from the beach. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. There isn’t much to do as you must access by boat but it’s great to just sit back and relax. We didn’t want to leave this amazing experience and friendly staff.. especially the resort dog, Suki!!

What a wonderful eco resort - fantastic home cooked fresh meals , happy fun and extremely friendly staff. A relaxing , casual resort that gives you that true home away from home . Brilliant bures right on the beach , you go to sleep with the sound of the ocean . Yummy breakfast in the mornings - served looking out over the water . Massages that were truly wonderful , relaxing and soothing. In an open Bure overlooking the ocean , our massages were very special . Our boys had surfing lessons , went in some of the best dives ever - and together as a family . Limited wifi makes a holiday even more special - as you truly get away from it all . All the staff make you feel welcome - from the first welcome song , our beautiful meals , special cocktails , through to our good bye song. We miss everyone there - we think of you all everyday and hope we can all return . A relaxing , casual , happy , comfortable , beautifully remote island with some of the most beautiful, friendly staff we have ever met !!! Thank you , Vinaka from all the Graze family xxxx King Tom , Queen Ingrid , William and Christian

Our stay at Maqai on Qamea was the best part of our two week trip in Fiji. The beach is pristine, great surf, and the staff was very nice. We loved Suki and the overall vibe of the resort. The food was delicious, the jungle trek was fun, and the snorkeling rivals the Rainbow Reef. Thank you for such a great stay!

Basic, beautiful beach accommodation
If resorts aren't your thing then this hotel is for you. It is pretty remote and this should guide your expectations. The chef does manage to cook delicious dinners that are shared amongst all the guests. Breakfast could do with some improvement, especially the coffee. It isn't your typical Fiji lagoon. I went on a guided snorkelling trip with the hotel. The gear was good and so was our guide but if you want to take part in the activities you should be confident in the water, including the open ocean.

Tropical idyll not to be missed
Our stay at the Maqai Eco Resort was by far the highlight of our wonderful holiday in Fiji. We were looking for a resort with 'bure' right on the beach and we got exactly that at Maqai. We slept soundly for the first time since arriving in Fiji, the sound of crashing waves working their magic. The staff and owner Angela were immensely welcoming and created an attentive yet laid-back atmosphere. We loved the communal dining/lounge where we got to know the other guests and had a lot of fun playing new and familiar games. The food was simply delicious and we looked forward to every meal. The beach alongside the resort is stunning - picture postcard tropical bliss, with busy hermit crabs everywhere. Gardens at the back were a real draw for the local birds and our only regret was not spending longer trying to spot the orange doves which come by every day (we subsequently went to extraordinary lengths to find one in Taveuni, not realising who elusive they can be!). We took a day-long snorkelling trip and enjoyed the ride and beautiful fish, coral and the very luck spot of two rays, one enormous so presumably a mantaray. Although perhaps our favourite creature of all was Suki, the super friendly dog who kept us company throughout our stay. All-in-all, excellent quality and great value for money. A lovely stay which ended far too soon.

Wonderful Escape From Reality
This resort is definitely off the beaten path. It is absolutely gorgeous! Everything was picturesque. From the white sand beaches to the perfectly clear blue water. The room was small, but very clean and comfortable. I would recommend taking a portable fan for additional air flow at night during the summer. The staff was overly gracious! They went above and beyond any and all expectations. The food was incredible...especially the desserts! The staff generously offered to take us on excursions to Taveuni ( a short boat ride away). I cannot put in to words how wonderful the entire staff was to us! You really must check it out for yourself!

2/10 Poor

Missed potential goes horribly wrong
The resort is an interesting concept which is being badly managed and therefore disappointing people. Very basic accommodation, together with remoteness and sandy floored buildings make for a kind of full service camping experience. However hidden costs, undisclosed details and bad management more or less conspired to ruin the trip. 1. The meal plan and transfers are expensive, and not included in the cost, so it is alot more expensive than it appears. 2. You cannot snorkel off the beach or go anywhere without a guide, and even if you are willing to pay you need a minimum number of people, so I only managed to go snorkling once by tagging along with the surfers, so I didn't really get to swim or snorkel - which was the whole point of the trip. 3. It is small and you cannot walk around very easily or go anywhere, apart from one short walk around the back of the property. 4. I didn't get the transfers I paid for - the hotel management were bothered by the decision of their captain to drop off staff and pick up some other travellers for cash en route between Taveuni and Qamea Islands for cash. They decided to blame me and when I arrived at the port the driver who was supposed to take me to the airport told me I would have to walk instead, even though I had paid for the transfer and was in the middle of nowhere. I had injured my hand that day and had to have a number of objects surgically removed, so I couldn't carry my bags and it was really stressful.

Definitiv etwas was erwähnt werden muss! Allerdings muss erwähnt werden, dass die Belegschaft und entgegen gekommen ist und uns die Möglichkeit gegeben das Mittagessen wegzulassen.
