Stayed one night in Chile here before heading home. Photos looked nice, reviews and ratings were generally good. We are not unreasonable with our expectations.
To start, this is a HOSTEL, not a hotel.
Our room was scary - shoddy exposed electrical, a light switch about 7 ft high above the desk, a hole in the very exposed subfloor, an earring left behind on a grimy shelf, and a stained pair of underpants that nearly fell on my head when I opened the locker over my bed. Not to mention the bunk beds which were not indicated on this page by photos or description.
The room looked like it was under construction. With the original worn-down and dirty bunk beds, worn mattress, lockers, and sticky floors on the left side, then a roughed-in 'desk,' cracked and partially repaired drywall, and exposed subfloor (with hole) on the right side.
I requested a different room and was offered one for more $ which I turned down. The room we were offered was one from the photos here, but was also run down, though not as badly as ours. The employee was making attempts to contact the owner/manager(?) but it was late, I was tired, and accepted my fate.
The shared toilets - in closets less than 3 ft wide, where you can sit on the toilet and drink from the sink at the SAME TIME!
The showers - Clean. Hot water which I conserved by turning off in between shampooing, but my wife showered next and had none.
The breakfast - good. Ham, cheese, bread, cereal, juice, milk, toaster, and sandwich press.
