Firstly, the property is in a great location with lovely views and has been modernized and tastefully decorated. Unfortunately, there is no lift.
There was a lovely, big, comfortable bed in our room and it also had a built-in electric fire. However, the design of room was not to our taste with an open plan bathroom. If you want to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, you have to step up, walk past the bath plumbing, step down, turn right and step up again. With no night light provided. If you turn on the main light, you wake up your partner. And the textured wall really hurts if you bump against it! This is a case of designers not thinking about the use of the room - only its look. The chocolates were so old that they had a white-ish film over them.
The food was great apart from the fact that I had a thick slice of potato that was barely cooked and inedible. On the whole service was good and friendly although 1 waitress, when asked for the dessert menus, said she would send someone over to take our plates away and then come back with the menus. 17 minutes later she came back! In the meantime, after 10 minutes, we had asked another waiter and he immediately cleared the table himself and brought us menus. He was a really hard worker. It seemed as though there was no-one in charge in the restaurant, that all the staff were expected to look after all the tables but then things got missed and there was a lack of communication (which we witnessed with other guests too).
