I thought my little double room was just right and very cute. I highly recommend it for the location! It had utensils and pots in the kitchen cupboard and a small fridge which is handy. I really enjoyed my stay. Sound travels easily through the door but I didn’t find it an issue. Great option for solo travellers that don’t want to stay in a hostel.

Very good location and very clean but that was the noiseest place ever stayed you could here everything from the neighbors and also you could see the lights. like the hostel just you paid for private

Good location, good price and good room! Loved having a kitchenette and the bathroom was very nice with a big shower. Only thing was that it was hotter than expected during our stay and with no aircon and only a small fan it did get rather hot at night

Hotel Zarco
The hotel although small and basic was a bit dated but in an excellent location,inside really needs updating with a coat of paint and modernising with better beds,furniture and newer TV and more power points in the rooms but it does the job as a base if your out all day and only there to shower and sleep,The staff were helpful and i must say the bar right outside the hotel entrance was the best local food and beer i found for quality and price.would i stay here again....probably yes as very reasonably priced for location.

Location and value for money
But run down, but the location is super central (close to city and waterfront). Can get noisy and the beds aren’t the most comfortable for lets say a week long stay, but if you want to do one or two nights in Funchal then you can’t find better value for money than this (I tried multiple hotels so I know).

We spent a week there and for what we paid it was excellent value. It's not 5 star luxury but it's comfortable and clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Above all it's ideally located right in the centre of Funchal in easy walking distance of the sights, bars and restaurants. Recommended if you don't mind simplicity.

Great place...would stay here again
We stayed there for 3 nights and were very happy. We stayed in a triple single room (3 single beds in one room) and overall the room was neat, tidy, and kept clean. The bathroom was also a good size. The service was great with the staff being very friendly and knowledgeable. We also opted for the breakfast which was pretty good. The location was perfect as we were a few minutes walk from restaurants, local shops and the Avenida do Mar. The only negative thing is that since there is no elevator, be prepared to hike your luggage up some stairs. We were lucky because the gentleman working the reception offered to take our luggage upstairs...we were on the third floor. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in the future.

Great location and price
Staff all friendly and helpful. Loaned us a hair dryer each evening. Clean towels daily. A street back from bus stops for local transport and airport transfers (€5 each way). Bus station about 5-10 minute walk away for transport across the island (ask reception for an island map with bus routes). Cheap little cafe/snack bar under the hotel. Coffee €1.10, glass of wine €1.10, pint of beer €2 and food good but cheap. Rooms dated and could do with a better clean in the corners and under the beds but cannot fault at all for the price. Location excellent for Farmers Market, Old Town, bars, restaurants, transport and some small supermarkets in the area.

Lovely
Zarco was excellent. Friendly helpful staff, great location, close to some wonderful restaurants (we recommend Bar O Avo [ask for Ricardo, who made every night a party] an a washing machine for weary, travel-stained travellers.

Buona posizione, adatto per soggiorni molto brevi
Posizione molto comoda, in pieno centro storico per cui ci si può muovere comodamentr a piedi. Il nostro appartamento era sul retro dell'edificio ed aveva una finestra piccola che si poteva aprire solo a metà e non dava direttamente sull'esterno ma sulla scala interna. Essendo l'unica finestra l'appartamento risulta troppo buio e decisamente poco areato. Non c'è aria condizionata ma solo un ventilatore da tavolo è poco confortevole durante il giorno perchè si accumula il caldo e lasera prima che rinfreschi un pò si fatica a dormire. Buona pulizia. Proprietari gentili. Contrariamente a quanto ci era stato indicato al momento della prenotazione, trovate sia gli asciugamanti che le lenzuola per cui non occorre portarli con sè.
