No staff, basic, could have been cleaner.

6/10 Good

Big room with nice furnishings, and helpful facilities: table, fridge etc. Shower room had missing tiling/some coming off. Remotely-organised check-in with info only sent by e-mail.
Nigel, 1-night trip

Ok for a single night
It was ok. Decoration was rather tired. TV had come off the wall in our bedroom and was balanced on a table. Bathroom was clean but not in a very good state. Beds were comfortable. Two ladies running the hotel were friendly and helpful.

Room smelt of Urine
My room smelt of Urine, it was over powering, tv did not work, no coffee facility and blocked shower! I recommend you pay a little extra and stay in a travel lodge
amjad, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

OK
Tired decor, but room spacious. Nice towels. Bed base badly stained. Fridge, microwave, decent fan, iron & ironing board, but no hairdryer! Generous check-in & check-out times, but check-in procedure a faff. Overall, ok for the price we paid.

fair to good
booking was good there was a attended that booked us in the rooms over all for the cost it was good but need an upgrade , some room damp and mold in bathroom and decor a bit out of date but generally for one night stay it was acceptable , if it was graded they can charge more for rooms
javaid, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Easy to get to - got upgraded which was nice. The only suggestion I would make would be to include a welcome pack in the room with the detail on as well as the email we received. However there was some good info on local taxi firms in the receiption which proved useful. Thankyou

i took us a few minutes to get in as we did not have the code so we had to phone no one in person is there only a phone and intercom

Accomodating owner but black mould was a bit much.
Started well, will accommodating staff and a free upgrade; however, the black mould behind the wardrobes was really quite pungent at times. The overall level of cleanliness wasn’t great. But, the staff seemed accommodating about luggage storage despite this being a self-service hotel.

Dump of a room in a once grand house AVOID
£65 a night (!) for a crummy room with a window propped open by an ironing board; black mould in the shower room; faulty sockets; semi broken desk to hold oversized microwave; broken shelf in bathroom; broken clock; one tiny towel; broken ceiling fan; rusty mirror; rusty soap dish; and - of course - no iron. A total misuse of the word 'hotel'. Just a collection of crummy rooms in a once grand house.
Peter, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

There were not curtains or black out curtains on the windows. The mirror had emotion detection led lights and as I was trying to switch them off I found a syringe, thankfully without the needle. I'm very disappointed with the overall condition of the room.

Excellent value
I am delighted with my stay at the Ashfield hotel. I have had regular contact from the hotel to ensure that I provided all of the information that was needed which was straightforward, and to check that I was still staying and there were no problems. Whenever I have needed to contact them they have replied to my emails immediately. Everyone has been very polite and friendly. The room was clean and had everything I needed including fridge a microwave and a kettle. Parking was also included in a private car park. I was very comfortable and would absolutely stay here again.

Do not book this is not even a 1 star hotel
When we went to check in a man was sat on the front step smoking weed. Checkin via a phone Hotel extremely old room smelt musty sash windows broken only 1 would open fan wouldn't work as cord broken. Paid for deluxe/luxury room what a joke In fact that bad we did not stay

Not as advertised
Too old …no elevator and room on attic floor. Very disappointing. Do no use this hotel . It should not be included in hotels.com list
Paul, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Beautiful Victorian building, a little bit old fashioned but very cute. I arrived 2 hours before check-in but the room was already ready and everything was there what maybe needed: fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle. There is no front desk at the hotel but I got all instructions over the phone. There was no hair dryer in the room but I brought mine. The only slight difficulty was uphill walk to the hotel from the train station and I wasn't keen to leave my suitcase on the last day unattended. Very happy with my stay.
