Area not nice at night, though convenient to the tube. Considering it's proximity to Marylebone, one would expect it to be a nice area, but typical of London you get these pockets of rough areas randomly mixed in. You would be forgiven for walking past this hotel as you'd be looking for a 4* Best Western, when in fact you'll find a coffee shop with a receptionist squashed into a tiny space at the end of the counter.
The positive: Manageable size-wise for 1 person/1 night, normal enough size for London, clean, nice soaps, nice shower and the bed was quite comfortable.
The not so positive:
The noise, all night there was the sound of running water, there's absolutely no insulation from plumbing sounds at all. Then there was the door slamming late at night (the doors are tight so require a hard shove to open and close them) and of course with the lack of soundproofing. My room had no window, a dungeon-type room on the ground floor (advantage: no walking up stairs and no traffic noise from outside). It's on a very, very busy street, with plenty of traffic and impatient drivers leaning on horns, so beware if you do end up with a room with a window.
I opted for breakfast at the "hotel" as I had walked around the area the night before and there was nothing half decent anywhere nearby, unless you wanted a kebab or fried chicken. Breakfast was a very basic affair not fitting for a 4* hotel, but it got my day started.
