My fiancee and I visited in early August. We both live abroad and this was my fiancee's first trip to TW.
Mr and Mrs Wu are your wonderful hosts at this lovely guesthouse, which is located next to the sea on the doorstep to the Taroko Gorge National Park.
The guesthouse is warm and beautiful. Three friendly dogs greet you on your arrival, Aluwa, a gentle beast of a dog, as well as 2 strays, Happy and Lucky, who were rescued by the owners. The lobby is full of wooden carvings and other artworks. We had a combo mountain and sea view room on the third floor in unit B. Furniture is tasteful and very clean. Large screen TV with cable and wifi, cold and quiet aircon, kettle and bar fridge. The king size bed is amazing. Water pressure is good . The balcony is also terrific. So everything was there for a great stay.
The guesthouse is a little bit out of the way, but Mr Wu was happy to drop us off and pick us up for dinner and for our day trip into Taroko. His French military jeep is definitely one of the highlights.
The breakfast was thoughtful, a reinivention of the full English breakfast with a distinct Taiwanese twist.
The guesthouse suited us perfectly. We wanted to be away from the City and get a bit of sunshine, mountain and the sea. The hospitality was phenomenal and certainly one of the more enjoyable guesthouse stays we have had anywhere in the world.
