The property is under reconstruction, which we didn't know ahead of time. I also asked for a place with few stairs because we are in our 70s and can't haul bags up stairs easily. I was told there were some stairs, but we would receive help. However, the "help" was a small young woman who checked us in. We carried our bags ourselves... up 35 stairs.
The "front desk" is in a small room on the second floor (third floor in US terms) and was difficult to find. The place is really a mess because of construction. However, the rooms are very nice, clean, large, and comfortable. If the rest of the hotel will be like this on completion, it could earn a better rating.
Negatives --> No phones in the room, so if you need the front desk, you must climb 35 stairs unless you're on the same floor. Also, the desk is open only from 14.00 to 20.00, so if you need anything outside of those hours, you're out of luck. It took several phone calls and texts before we were able to successfully book a second night. Also, the Netflix connection does not work, so we were stuck watching only American news programs.
The young woman at the desk was very nice and helpful, however. I have no problems with her. Only with the hotel operation itself. Free parking is available at the Santa Caterina Hotel just a block away. But that has an elevator, so when we saw it, we thought maybe we should have booked there instead.
