Great room, bad experience
We stayed in the Linwood Suite for 1 night. The room was spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast was of a high quality. The room is immediately above the function area and noise travels easily (there was a wedding reception) - we weren't warned about this previously but it was not a problem as we went out to dinner and the noise quietened down before midnight.
Unfortunately the experience was ruined by loud noise in the room. It was a mechanical noise which sounded like a generator or something plumbing/heating related. It kept us awake during the early hours and then woke us early, continuing for most of the morning.
We raised this at check out and initially the receptionist seemed understanding but then it became apparent that she thought that we were talking about the function noise (although we explained this was completely different). She did not appear willing to treat it as a complaint or take any action.
I've since sent a number of emails to the hotel with no proper reply apart from holding messages. I didn't ask for a refund, a discount, or indeed anything at all. All I wanted was to make the point that we had paid a lot of money for a one night stay (actually our first for 3 years without our children) and to hopefully gain an explanation, perhaps an apology and some comfort it would be fixed so that it wouldn't affect other guests.
Instead, we got silence and no sign the hotel cares about service or feedback. We won't be returning.
