The only knock to the rating is the location of the hotel which is at the edge of the town (the edge that is closed to the center, but still an edge). It is a good 10-12 minutes walk before you encounter the first restaurant you would consider eating at. Usually I wouldn't mind that, even with kids, however this time it was different for two reasons:
1) It is super hot and super humid in Tulum
2) It can rain heavily without notice for several minutes and I was in constant fear that my cast on my broken arm will get wet
Other than the location, which if you're without kids, with a car or able (or willing) to rent bicycle should be no problem to you, this place is EXTREMELY well worth the low price tag. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the pool is refreshing, staff is amazingly nice and helpful and there are small well thought of details that differentiate this hotel from nearly all others we've been to such as a basket of fresh fruit each morning, a decent amount of towel hangers and sockets in the room, etc.
The only thing that I would recommend them to improve within the room is the blinds in the window which were difficult to manage and did not do their job efficiently
