Great B&B; the host is very friendly; they are somewhat more focused on winter guests to serve them for incredible Aurora Viewing events; nonetheless the stay was comfortable; rooms a little outdated, but comfortable. Definitely would go there again. Somewhat pricey in my POV.

Nice spot for a few days stay
It is a nice place for viewing the aurora. The owner calls you at night if it appears. They serve a breakfast that is ok. The shower and faucet in our room smelled of iron pipes. We were reluctant to shower or use the sink. It’s located outside of town.

The husband and wife owner operators of the lodge were very professional and helpful. This included waking guest to see the northern lights should they occur and assisting with watching moose on the property. The breakfasts were excellent.

4/10 Fair

The owner was really friendly & helpful and he had 2 adorable pups. The dining/living area was massive, so there was plenty of space to spread out, play a game or watch tv, read a book, chat with others, eat. There were refreshments and packaged leftovers from breakfast every day in the fridge in case you need to leave before breakfast time, you can still have something to eat. Unfortunately the house reeked of dog urine & feces. I think the younger puppy had a few too many accidents that weren’t thoroughly cleaned. The room we got was apparently not one of the renovated rooms (as I was reading from other reviews) so it was in pretty bad shape (namely, the bathroom). The water was incredibly hard, so orange stains were everywhere and it smelled bad and it was IMPOSSIBLE to feel clean when taking a shower or washing your hands. The persistent slimy feeling was enough to make me go crazy. The stand-up shower was only big enough to, well, stand up. Bending over to wash feet or pick something up was near impossible. There were toiletries provided - soap, shampoo, conditioner. The whole bathroom - floor, walls, everything - was linoleum stapled down which was so odd & didn’t feel clean. There was a strange sticky substance on the bedroom floor we couldn’t identify. There was a tv, desk, and fan & access to a shared balcony which was a nice place to sit & have breakfast. It was really hot in the room and difficult to cool down with just the fan.Yard had vehicles & some trash/debris

miscommunication of what room was assigned to us. Found a strange and menacing man in our room. The woman on the phone and the owner didn't communicate with each other, and they each assigned us a different room. We were told 3 different rooms and the last one had a strange man occupying it. We felt very unsafe.

Good experience overall, the only fault in my opinion was the sulphur smell in the water during showers or brushing teeth.

Lovely Alaskan Getaway
We only spent one night here, but wished it was longer. From the moment we arrived the hospitality was outstanding. Fred greeted us outside with his two adorable dogs Riley and Tasha. I knew at that moment we were in for a treat. We had a lovely room with a balcony and while we didn't catch the aurora, this would have been the perfect viewing platform. The breakfast the next day was so plentiful I needed two stomachs and might have to ask for the hash recipe. The location is convenient to city center, but out far enough to feel like a cabin in the woods.Fred is very knowledgable on the aurora as well as activities in the area. Most importantly my friend and I both agreed that he and his wife felt like old friends immediately. Hands down I would return in the future. Thanks again Fred. We miss it already!

Home away from home
Very relaxing environment. The property is beautiful, clean, and very relaxing. A great place to unwind after a long day of outdoors activities. Outstanding service, and such a great place to experience Alaska. Love our time there and will definitely return, as we live in the state, and the lodge is just an hour flight away from home.

We really enjoyed our time at the Alaska Grizzly Lodge. Fred gave us first rate advice on places to visit and things to do in Fairbanks, and we really appreciated Sarah watching the sky at night for the northern lights while we slept. Breakfast was excellent, and the hospitality was first rate. The rooms and decor are a bit dated, which we thought added to the charm of our experience. The lodge is ten minutes out of town by good paved roads until the last mile or so, which is good if you want to see the sky without a lot of light from the ground. We would stay here again.
