We had a wonderful experience. The stay was authentic with many traditional amenities. The staff was very helpful, and we were given clear instructions on the things that were less Western.

Great stay
This is a great place to experience the Japanese traditional ryokan living. There’s a public onsen across the street where hotel guests can go for free.

Staff was very hospitable and greeted all their guests like family. They gave you a property tour of your room and ensured you understood all amenities on property. There is a public bath with an electric bath, soda bath and medicine bath that was amazing after a days tour.
Fantastic! Please go for the four seasons. You have your own private garden and a larger space. Staff will prepare your futons on tatamis. This is a townhouse so you will hear a bit of footsteps above. Breakfast was included and included a variety of Asian and western fusions sandwiches. If you are very tall, might not be the greatest option as the ceiling height is low. The property is an original structure from 100 years ago renovated recently so it is very clean and has a traditional modern touch to it.
We hope to be back soon. We stayed one night and it definitely was not enough.

This hotel is one of the best we been to throughout our entire Japan trip. The hotel staffs are super nice and helpful and the location is a very quiet neighborhood with bus lines close by. The best part of this place is the cleanliness and you feel safe to use any of the facilities and amenities they provide. Will definitely come back again.

The hospitality was outstanding! The staff are very friendly and the building is beautiful. Easy access to JR bus line and the subway. We lived all the food recommendations provided (we tried 4 and all were hits). Everything is very clean and new, but with charm. We rented their bikes and it was fun and easy to do. Breakfast is very good with lots of options. Will absolutely stay here again in the future.

stayed 2 nights. room is small but it's a very reasonable price to experience an authentic traditional Japanese "Ryokan" style hotel. Breakfasts are both Japanese and western styles. Staffs are very nice and we were well explained about the hotel with welcome tea when we checked in

This Ryokan is a worthwhile experience unto itself. It was a very comfortable gentle transition into Japanese culture. It's a low-key vibe with a lot of changing shoes and slippers ( three types of slippers) Staff were as helpful and gracious as possible in that process as well as handly logistics. They were always there to help us in every way. They were responsible and prompt when making restaurant reservations for us (a must) in Kyoto. Good communications.
We found the standard double room small., particularly the bathroom We had the room for three our last night and it was great. We'd highly recommend the room for three and ask them to double your mattress if you have back concerns. They offered my wife that option. It helped. Breakfast was good, not great compared to some of the other places we have stayed, but probably very good by typical Japanese standards as we were told.
The only downside is its location was not inconvenient for us by public transportation or walking to where we wanted to go. We took public transportation between sites, but to get to this hotel from the main sites we found it was more efficient with our limited time to take a Taxi/Uber. That was about 7-10 minute ride $7ride each way. The experience, especially the quality of the staff, is worth it. Just a consideration. I would highly recommend this place for those looking for a cultural experience and nice traditional Japanese lodging over being close to a group of tourist sites.
