A really pleasant hotel close to lake Toya. The traditional Japanese room was excellent to experience and the onsen with its both indoor and outdoor baths were phenomenal. There were other amenities such as free bike rentals to take advantage of. The breakfast buffet offered here was superb and there were a few options for restaurants in the area to walk to in the evenings.

The property is old and does not looks as nice as the picture on the reservation site shows. Definitely it needs renovation.\ The dinner kaiseki was below expectation for the money. It seems to allow pets. A guest couple brought a dog and let bark all morning when I retied to relax and enjoy the morning bath.

Wonderful welcome
The welcome service (from 3 pm every day) was amazing. The Kaiseki dinner package was also fantastic - highly recommended. Staff kindly assisted in reserving me a place on a bus connection when leaving. Hot springs a little tired, and sauna in a separate section.

Disappointed
So noisy, and not comfortable at all, the building may be old, so dark

Excellent meals and staff
Very helpful staff and fantastic dinner and breakfast, with a great selection of amenities. The building itself could use a little smartening up in places, but for a hotel that allows pets this may be expected

It is well organized traditional Japanese style hotel such as delicious breakfasts, natural Onsen(hot bath facility), many sakes, snacks and even hot bath robes. The staffs are extremely kind and well mannered. I stayed 2 nights. The hotel is not updated but maintains traditional Japanese style. When anyone wants to experience traditional Japanese culture in Hokkaido, this is the best hotel I recommend. I would like to go back.

Staffs are so friendly and kind. Unfortunately, the hotel needs renovation. 1, From check in counter, at second floor, to elevator floor has stairs and they do not have lamp ,so it was so hard to carry up our all luggage by our selves. 2, AC did not work well, so I asked a fan to put in our room. 3, Stairs to all floor is dirty and smells not good. They have very nice hot spring, free welcome drink, free Yukata rental, easy to see fire worlks from own room and so on. so I hope they improve thir facilities a little by little. 15minutes by taxi from Toyako JR station. You need to call the taxi if you want to ride. Pubrick bus only runs a few every hours.

Like: It was a Ryokan!!! Dislike: Not sure if because of the season, but most nearby restaurants were not open. 7-11 became our best friend. 😅

Wonderful stay
This is an older hotel no question. Our room was clean and roomy for Japan (two adults and a 6 foot teen for well). Ladies Onsen was lovely. The lounge downstairs looks on a beautiful garden and was a great place to relax. Central location, staff helped us find laundromat across street. Only complaint- musty smell in room, slight smoke odor in elevators

Dinner and breakfast were included and delicious. Short walk to fireworks at the lake. One staff member seemed inept to me. He told me the only luggage transfer form they had was the pay on arrival, rather than the prepay that I did everywhere else. The hotel that received my bag didn't like paying the bill before I got there, but thankfully they did. All the other staff were helpful and bright.
